Watched it for a 4th time today. The 5th will be in IMAX. This is the most times I've seen a movie this much in such a close period of time since Superbad/OotP last year.

Anyways it seriously doesn't get old and the truck/Bat Pod scene makes me clap every time. Even if I'm the only one at the noon showing, its fine.

The thing that hit me the most this time was the ending and it's emotions. I didn't move this time while watching the Dent/Batman/Gordon scene. PS Oldman steals that scene completely.

I would never want to meet the Joker in real life. The scariest role in movie history (for me). But he was so great and you can't help but smile at anything he says or does.

If he were to be nominated, I want them to use the scene where he is talking to Rachel as the scene they show. So many to choose from to show how great of a performance it was.

I also love love love the videotape scene.

No, if anything they chose to show it's either when he f tells Gambit the story of how he got his cuts

As to Gordon mentioning 5 deaths by Dent, my thought was that events were happening quickly and perhaps he just had some faulty information as often happens in chaotic times.

What can be said which hasn't already? The lines of high praise, while true, have become cliché after so much raving adoration from both critics and audiences. Yes, this is by far the best Batman film. In fact, it's the best superhero film ever made. And, no, it's not an empty action-comedy product for 12-year-olds, but rather a serious crime drama with gothic superhero overtones. Heat (or The Departed) with a more intense taste for the theatrical. The Caped Crusader's rooftop battle with a sadistic clown is woven into the tapestry of an epic and realistic story of justice-minded, optimistic lawyers and policemen desperate to rid their city's streets of the evil and the compromised. Christopher Nolan, my favorite director and one of the most talented of his generation, has crafted a masterpiece.

The ensemble cast is perfect, from the headlining stars to the unknowns with brief dialogue. Everyone belongs, everyone shines. Christian Bale plays a trio of characters perfectly. As Bruce Wayne, he's either conflicted and intense (the real Bruce) or casual and shallow (Bruce's self-absorbed, trust fund baby public persona). As Batman, he's intimidating and, to be blunt, very, very cool. And, of course, there is the late Heath Ledger. He's a revelation. This nervous, scary performance is the finest of his brief, but bright career. The details of it are overwhelming and more than once sent a chill down my spine while also putting a morbid smile on my face. He's created one the coolest, most nightmare-inducing film villains ever here and perhaps the highest praise I can pay to him is I was so entranced by his acting I completely forgot I was watching Heath. I saw only the character. The rest of the cast, including such legends as Michael Caine (loving butler and father figure Alfred's decision regarding a crucial note to Bruce is incredibly moving) and Gary Oldman, deliver unblemished, excellent performances.

Christopher Nolan's direction is superb. The action sequences are exciting and overflowing with destined-to-be-iconic moments. Extravagant, but grounded in reality. Fast and chaotic, but never hard to follow. Similar to Children of Men, Nolan's film uses action not only for the awe-inspiring visuals and edge-of-your-seat excitement, but to advance the plot and develop the characters. Nolan also excels at building tension and many of the film's scenes become so intense it's hard to breathe. The script (by Christopher Nolan and his brother Jonathan) has an incredibly fascinating, twisty plot. Close to every scene has a character or plot surprise. The dialogue is crisp and memorable and the characters have depth and are easy to root for (or love to hate). I also loved how the brothers Nolan folded modern political and social arguments (including the role of privacy-invading surveillance in our society and the lengths to which it should be used) into the plot. The ending both satisfies and leaves you craving to know where the plot and characters go next.

Simply a perfect film. Not just a perfect Batman film. Not just a perfect superhero film. No, this is a perfect film and, so far, the year's absolute best (edging out In Bruges). Recommended!

Clearly the person who wrote this is an individual who gave up all his worldly goods to help the impoverished children of the world. No... no, wait, he runs a MOVIE FAN SITE. And I don't mean to criticize movie fan sites, I read 'em and post on their forums daily. But an old saying involving a pot and a kettle springs to mind reading this.

I'm oddly upset by the fact that this thread's going to overtake Children of Men's record number of pages.

I'm kinda too, heh. Children of Men, along with Spirited Away, is my favourite film of this decade. But this was inevitable. People like big numbers at this site, so there's always a move toward new records, even ones as insignificant as this.

Dent is a lot more Hamlet-esque, although he doesn't fake going crazy, he actually does go crazy. Hamlet was a good guy taken down by the evil around him. Macbeth was never really a good guy to begin with.

Well, well, let me get this out first, it's not THAAAAAAAAT amazing. It takes its time to reach its stride, the first half or so of detective work, politics and attorney mumbo-jumbo are not quite my thing. The one constant is the Joker, though, he's great throughout the movie, a pleasure to watch him and his antics. Between this and BB, i don't have a clear winner. 9/10

What do you think of Orlando from "As you Like it". Could Joker pass for that?
