Personal opinion. I felt BB was more fun and entertaining, and that's basically the one thing it has over TDK.

I mean, I consider BB a top 20 film so even though I think TDK is better than it, I still feel BB is a classic.

Well my personal opinion is more accurate than yours. Sorry, them's the breaks. :nope:

Post Re: The Dark Knight
Much better than Begins. My biggest qualm with the first was that it was a pulpy, slight, ridiculous and clichéd comic book plot filmed and cast as though it had all the gravitas of a greek epic. Like Nolan was saying, "hey, if we film this like a dark crime thriller and cast really good actors, maybe people will ignore the cheesy villain, the Elektra knock-off training montages, paper-thin characterisation and goofy climax".

To put it another way, it's like with Begins they were handed a standard, low-rent comic book plot, and layered on class, style and pretence to fool people into believing it was something it wasn't.

With this one, it's almost like the opposite is true. Like they worked hard to start with a dense plot that dealt with the volatile nature of civilised society and good and bad/order and chaos and all that guff, but then became oddly hamstrung when it came to believably working the comic book tropes and characters into the whole malarkey. The end result's a bit too schizophrenic for me to honestly say I loved it, but I enjoyed it a great deal nonetheless.

Again, not a masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination. But a damn good effort, and infinitely superior to the first. Better for a film to start with an idea and work its way down, than start with nothing and try to force its way up.

A-

Yup.

much more. Batman Begins took so long to really get going, and that's a big reason why it wasn't a hit with audiences in at all the way that this movie has been.

For me it took awhile for the Dark Knight to also get going, but I agree, overall it was much more entertaining than a rather bland at times Begins.

Did anybody think the Hong Kong subplot dragged the film a bit?

I was so wrapped up in what was going on that even if it took a bit too long, my body didn't notice. That's a 2 1/2 hour movie that never once makes you wish it would go faster; I would've totally been up for another half hour if they had more planned out.

Heh. I guess I'm the minority here then. The movie dragged quite a bit in the beginning (not the opened scene, mind you) that I overall, I felt that the movie was 3 hours long. I don't know. I guess I had a problem with its pacing.

The 150-minute running time was hardly noticeable for me. It just flew.

I liked the 150 minute running time because I felt like I got my money's worth.

yeah, less than that and I would have felt one of the characters got ripped off. Probably two-face.

Sure it may have 10 mins to long.

However it made the film feel like a epic...

It gave the film an image of it being a epic story, full of many great characters and settings and imo makes the film rise above all other blockbusters in recent memory.

Not that snobby at all, besides that it's fairly old.

Could never get into either, Films like those two and Auntie Mame (which I have seen all the way through) are almost any other female dominated 1950s film, I just never can.

Sunset isn't really a "female dominated" film, like, at all.
