I don't know about that. The action was pretty badass and more stylistic than most of the other big summer movies out there, but I wouldn't go as far as to compare it with The Matrix in terms of its action sequences. The big climactic showdown is reminiscent of The Matrix in style and all-out balls-to-the-wall death and mayhem. But as a whole, it's way more Fight Club than Matrix, the first half in particular.

no no no no no.

Not even close. It doesn't even rival Equilibrium.

Equilibrium/Matrix are pretty different from Wanted.

Yeah, two have awesome effects and fight scenes, whilst one does not.

Which?

You just can't appreciate Wanted for what it is, a fun over-the-top summer action film. While Matrix/Equilibrium were way more Sci-Fi/Post-Apocalyptic

Wanted's directing/visual style was obnoxious and insulting. All of Timur Bekmambetov's films have been. Night Watch was dull as can be despite having more effects shots than Wanted.

Well the Matrix is better than Wanted and I agree that see is great, but Wanted had a lot of great moments too.

To me, Wanted was a lot of fun, but nothing more. It's a solid picture but it's not incredibly memorable or anything.

Nothing like The Matrix, which is a fantastic film. The first one, at least.

I would agree.

The sci-fi aspect of the Matrix made it a more interesting film.

For real, name 3. Great mind you.

You probably won't consider any of these great, but oh well..

I guess this contains spoilers.....

the end scene when Wesley enters the fraternity.

The train scene.

the second car scene with Wesley's target.

:2thumbsup: on Equilibrium.

It's sad that it never caught on. I was one of maybe 10 people in my theatre on opening day.

And no Misutaa, those 3 scenes are not great. They're entertaining as far as summer films go but not really great.

I'm sure if it was release today, with Bale's newly found popularity, the film would have been huge.

In regard to Wanted: they are great because they are entertaining. I am not claiming that Wanted is the best film ever (behind Wall-E for the year for me), but I fail to see how Equilibrium's scene (the one posted by Joe) or that individual Matrix scene is better than all of wanted....

fyi my ranking of those three would be
1. Matrix
2. Wanted
3. Equilbrium
though all are at least a B+

While I do agree The Matrix is the better movie, Wanted is not that far behind. It's definitely the best movie I've seen this summer. (No I've not seen Wall-E, nor do I want to.)

:er:

Why?

no appeal. The only reason I want to see if is to jump on the hype bandwagon. But I'll take guns and action over cartoons. I'm sure it's a great movie. Just not my cup of tea I guess.
