Re: KJ & Wall-E: What Went Wrong?
If all those clubs from first post really exist, I really have no problem with this www thread. I also think that Wall-E's number is pretty great.

I know, it can get annoyed sometimes (or all the time!) but chill out! don't you want 'your anticipated movie' to do well? some of us do, and that's where all ridiculous predictions come from.. based on the record, those people loved every Pixar's film.. so, it's really a NATURAL reaction for them to hype Pixar's upcoming film.. I got annoyed with the overhype of some film too (most recent Indy 4), I know how you feel.. this WWW thread was fine (after all, it did fail to meet the expectation) but you know what's not fine?, this thread was supposed to be some form of 'making fun' of those who overpredicted Wall-E IN THE FUN WAY but, I might be wrong, your posts are full of hatred.. I thought all of this is supposed to be fun so, IMHO, NOTHING IS WRONG this film failed to meet the BO expectation, yes but is it a bad opening number? no and those who overpredicted Wall-E, is there anything wrong with them? I say, no

Re: KJ & Wall-E: What Went Wrong?
I was expecting Wall-E to have a lot more teen+ appeal than the other Pixar films (besides Incredibles)
Looks like Wanted took quite a huge chunk of that audience. Should have some excellent legs though.

Re: KJ & Wall-E: What Went Wrong?
I think this thread is perfectly justified considering what I (& others) have had to put up with over the past few days and weeks. What happened to the good old days where it was just "_____ prediction thread". why can't we stick with that. there is no need for clubs. if you want to colaborate your results in an excel spreadsheet then go ahead, but don't make threads out of excitement its annoying to people who don't have that excitement. if it wasn't out of excitement, it was used to piss the people like me off who doesn't like fan-obsessed films. (excluding TDK).
and like MadGez said before, i never said it was a huge financial failure, but what you guys did was annoying and inessence caused this to happen. its good to see a few people come out and say, i obviously took it a bit too far.

Re: KJ & Wall-E: What Went Wrong?
I understand that.. believe me, I know how annoying I was with all these film-obsessions.. (at one point, I was intentionally bumping all threads about Wall-E in Cinemania forum to the front page.. juts because to piss you off with your 'I hate Wall-E' club.. bitchy, I know) the thing is.. I can't help myself either to NOT get excited (and even make some ridiculously awesome prediction ) like I said, how could I NOT be insanely obsessed with Pixar, since I -myself, my opinion which is not necessary to be matched with yours- found every single of their films to be nothing short of wonderful.. (ok, except Cars) so, in the end, I think the least I can do for you is trying to not fall into the 'overhype' case, and I think you should try to understand why we're hyping some movie too much as well.. or at least, get over it / don't take things too serious being 'out of control' (not quite lunatic ) -for sometimes- is the part I loved about the internet life..

Re: KJ & Wall-E: What Went Wrong?
i can understand going crazy about a franchise on AICN or similar sites. but KJ was never like this back in 2005-06. i know things evolved, but i found box office predicting fun and enjoyable. the arguments at times went overboard, but the spirit of it all never changed.
what i've witnessed in the Box Office Bash, including the movies that i'm "hyped-up" about, in the past year has been deplorable.
You people are entitled to be excited about films you want to see, even i am, but please don't annoy the people who don't share your sentiment.
My anti-Wall-E club was made out of pure annoyance. even people who wanted to see Wall-E chimed in. this should tell you something.

Yeah, but they actually hyped a good film, not mediocre crap like Hulk et al.

Re: KJ & Wall-E: What Went Wrong?
umm, ok, I got it your last two posts, hope for more people to read them.. btw, this thing -some members overhype some movie, some others get annoyed-, IMO, is absolutely normal.. the real peace is never meant to touch human's society (even the internet ones), NOT before we learn to understand each others.. **yuck! cheesy!!**

Re: KJ & Wall-E: What Went Wrong?
Some people just had too high expectations on this board. I knew it would make somewhere between 60-70 million. This isn't a franchise film. Also it will have good legs so it should do 250+, I think it will do around 280-285 myself and finish 5th for the year.

KJ is a classy place. take ur shit to BOM where that kind of behaviour is encouraged.

Unfortunately I can witness a longrunning process of BOMosation here too...

I cant run the place like a complete nazi and ask to close all the WWW thread while allowing clubs to exist. If I close off clubs, the whole Box office forum would be a ghost town because what else is to discuss besides daily numbers. Its the nature of the beast that you will see a dozen Hulk, Batman and any summer movie threads. Its really no different from last year, the year before and any other summer. Yes there are too many clubs but Ive also closed quite a few of them that are redundant and exact duplicates of existing ones

I'm talking about people being more and more rude and people who provoke just for provocation's sake without having the arguments to support outlandish claims...

Re: KJ & Wall-E: What Went Wrong?
loyalfromlondon wrote: KJ & Wall-E: What Went Wrong? Nothing. Last I checked this was a MOVIE WEBSITE. Discussions are bound to take place about certain movies over others. 5 threads. 15 threads. 50 threads. WoKJ, DH, CS, AICN, RT, forums, talkbacks are extreme in their very nature. You're in your home or office typing words, often with passion, and having conversations with people you'll likely never meet. EVER. And yet you do it. Why? Because you're obsessed about movies. If you don't like it, I'd suggest you avoid the forum when TDK hits. at least ur an EPIC FAIL. at least u can take that away from this weekend. EDIT: ur perfectly entitled to be excited about films, and its a case of N-O S-H-I-T when it comes to a movie website. but again, too much is too much. countless clubs. I can understand the point of these Clubs, but make them realistic, just don't make them for sake of another Wall-E thread.
