 Re: WALL•E Predictions
It'll be at the top or second of the Summer releases, if not for the year. I think $350+ and maybe $400+ domestic is in the bag. If IM can make $100 OW on general appeal and excellent promotion, then an adorable family-friendly icon with excellent promotion might even top it. In contrast, Rat and Cars were not as adorable. I can't help it. It's my emotional impression. KFP is simply not as adorable as WALL-E and comparatively speaking, WALL-E puts KFP in the league of Surf's Up, though comparatively speaking, in a much higher position than Surf's Up ever achieved. WALL-E is like ET or Nemo.

 Re: WALL•E Predictions
I keep getting scared about predicting anything remotely huge for this, but buzz feels REALLY strong right now. I think it has a shot at beating Nemo's adjusted opening, but for now I'll go with unadjusted. As for legs, a high opening should make its legs shorter than Ratatouille's, but also has a lot less competition than Ratatouille did (Transformers, Harry Potter in both movie and book form, Simpsons...), but again, I want to play it safe, so... Opening: $71.2 million Total: $310.2 (4.32) I'm so scared.

I doubt it'll be up (Heh) to those two, which is a shame since if it's simply "very very good," it'll probably join Pete Doctor's other full-length effort Monsters, Inc. as Pixar most underrated (Well, as underrated as a Pixar film can be). Still, if WALL-E breaks out big time like you and others expect and it somehow got a BP nom, it would be very interesting to see how it performs at the box office. Would $100 million opening be within the realm of possibility?

 Re: WALL•E Predictions
I think all the adventurous material and "villains in the jungle" (as described in the synopsis) may lend itself to making "Up!" the easiest sell on a superficial level Pixar has had since "The Incredibles," but at the same time, how are they going to sell a movie about a 70 year old hero? Hmm.

 Re: WALL•E Predictions
I think it'll be a drawback only in the sense that articles ask "Can Pixar sell a film starring an old man??!!?!?" while the public says "Um, why not?", ala what's going right now with WALL-E and its lack of dialogue. So, it'll make for a good publicity tool, and not one that'll be a drawback overall, IMO.
But again, it all depends on WALL-E, which is what this thread is for. I'll probably create an Up prediction thread after WALL-E's Saturday when we have an idea of what to expect.

Let's get conservative. Opening Weekend: $67.8 million Total: $305.1 million (4.5 multiplier)

 Re: WALL•E Predictions
There's nothing conservative about a $300m prediction.
Yet again Pixar loonies' arrogance shines through...

Only shows the arrogance of the Pixar loonies... Hey, reasonable OW and maybe reasonable multiplier given the competition. Maybe conservative's not the right word, but it's at least reasonable.
