Post Wanted - Best film of the summer (75%)
So I just got out of the screening for Wanted and it was great.

The action is great. There are a few moments that feel a bit too excessive, but I think that if you go in to the theater with the right mentally, then you will be fine. There are several scenes that are amazing and done very well. The best part has to be that the action is never really absent. From the very beginning to the end, there is also something going on.

As for the acting. I think that these kinds of films match Jolie very well. Her character is fun and pretty damn sexy. James McAvoy is really solid as well. I think he was a great choice for the lead. And of course Morgan Freeman is great.

Overall, i think mostly everything works very well, there are some little things that probably could have improved, but overall it is just a very fun movie which cannot be said for many films.

If you guys have any questions, feel free to ask!

Yeah, I have some questions. Have you noticed the product placements? Bekmambetov did toooo much of that stuff in both Night and Day Watch, as well as Irony of Fate 2, and that was very irritating. Well, he started as a TV commercials director (a very good one, I must say - people still remember his ads).
Did you have a feeling that this was filmed not by Hollywood director?

There were a couple of product placements actually, but nothing too excessive or distracting, but if you place close attention you will notice several.

As for the second question, Berkmambetov did a pretty good job! It is a bit cheesy (like Night/Day watch) but he made it a really fun and an exciting movie. It does definitely feel a bit different from your classic action movie but I wouldn't have instantly said "The director is definitely not American!" I don't think people will be able to notice the region differences, but if you are familiar with Timur, then you will probably notice the similarity.

Isn't it based of a comic book?

But a lot of the things in the film are very original and pretty damn cool.

I noticed some similarities between this and Watches, when I've seen the trailer. Some really similar action moves, but of bigger scale. Still, I admire Bekmambetov a lot, although I'm not a big fan of his movies, he can surely make good visuals almost out of trash. I'm curious what he is able to do when given some real money.

Yup, I think this is going to help him in the states a lot. I like him too, he is a pretty good.

The Sun newspaper dropped the line "we hear its james mcavoys' first real dud" after they were refused a place in the press conference for the film. How can you take a publication which has such obvious tantrums to not being invited to the party seriously?

Are the action scenes as over the top as the ones in Shoot 'Em Up/Crank?

Unfortunately I haven't seen them, but I can safely say that they are very over the top and probably more over the top than those films...but it is all fun.

If you go in to the movie thinking that it is going to be this realistic action film, you will be VERY VERY disappointed. It is all pure fun/silly/over the top action that makes you kind of laugh at it but also really enjoy watching it.

Not sure if that makes sense but yea...

Ok, seriously, when was the last time for you with such a silly/fun action flick like this??

#2 Is there any hint for a sequel in the end?

1) I cannot really say, but I did have a lot of fun with Snakes on a Plane ...but I wouldn't really compare to this film because they are very different. Sorry I guess I don't have an answer for this.

2) I will put this in spoilers. So people don't click if you dont want to know!
Spoiler: show
no, not really. It will be totally for $$ it they do make one.

get use to product placements.

It looks like you haven't seen the Russian versions of Night and Day Watch and their assertive in-your-face product placement. Like when a small screw from the airplane's engine falls from the sky right into the Nescafe mug...

I should have known, damn it. Bekmambetov, priest of advertising.

Well, both Crank and Shoot 'Em Up made my top 10 in their respective years. So, that sounds extremely promising. Thanks ;)

No offense to my sister, but even she enjoyed it. She is not a typical action film viewer let alone something like this. She thought the film had amazing action that was a bit out there but still very fun.

The whole theater I felt was into it. and of course I listened to a few conversations on the way out and mostly everyone was raving it: young guys, older guys, elderly, blond girls,

It should be a audience hit. Then again, I might be hyping it up and then it becomes a total dud for everyone else...lol

I'm really looking forward to this, and I usually skip seeing similar films.
