She of Aquamarine and the upcoming Superhero Movie. Given her previous roles, this is quite the departure.

I wonder how brutal they will get with this given the subject matter and the original film. They had better get rid of the comic police officers that hampered the effectiveness of the first film.

I actually refused to watch this movie when my mum bought it for me as a christmas gift.
She was blissfully unaware of how controversial the content was though.

But i'm not a huge horror fan as is, much less one who wants to see rape.

The original is so overrated. I honestly didn't find it scary in the slightest. To be honest it was kind of dull. Probably my least favorite Craven film.

I think the remake will probably be better though. And Sara Paxton is a decent-enough actress.

Obviousy the remake won't be as brutal. I loved the first, though it was really disturbing. The comic music and bumbling cops brought it down. It was probably to take away from the brutality going on. With a more serious tone though, it could be much better. Hopefully it doesn't get fucked up.

For the record, they are changing the plotline of this film a bit.

Spoiler: show
Instead of all the teenagers dying early on, apparently Mari (the character Paxton will be playing) will be the "final girl" and end up surviving.

I'm looking forward to this film.

I agree with above, this is a drastic departure from Aquamarine.

Mind you, Scout Taylor Compton went from Sleepover to Halloween.

Is there a tame horror film in the world you aren't looking forward to?

:grrr:

A bit? That completely changes the entire thrust of the movie.

So this means it will be rated 'PG-13" huh?

Why can't they leave classic horror films alone and make new modern day horror films instead?

I really can't imagine this being rated PG-13, no matter how much they try to water it down.

I can. Outside of the Saw franchise 'R' rated horror films haven't done particularly well at the bo. Halloween(2007) was an anomaly as it already had built in name recognition going for it. Most kids today have most likely never heard of LHotL. Plus a PG-13 version in theatres will allow them to release the unrated DVD with much more fanfare.

There is no way whatsoever this will be PG-13. Gore is the only thing this film will have going for it.

And there are R-rated horror films coming out aside from the Saw franchise. Black Christmas, Wolf Creek, The Amityville Horror etc.

Wolf Creek and Amityville both came out in 2005 with Black Christmas in 2006. Wolf and Christmas each did $16 million total bo, while Amityville was successful with $64 million. But Amityville had built in name recognition and Ryan Reynolds to help it out. sadly there have been more and more PG-13 horror films as of late than R.

Now I'm not saying I want to see PG-13 horror films, actually its quite the opposite. And I'm adamantly opposed to remakes of any kind. But, the studios have learned that the money is in the PG-13 film as more and more theatres are enforcing the age restriction policy of R rated films, thus hampering the opening weekend take.

They'll put the gore behind a curtain or window and add a bunch of unscary music in order to get the 12yr old girls to scream, install a pretty yet untalented cast, promote the hell out of it on the disney channel, and pray for a better than so-so opening weekend.

Okay, now in all honesty, do you believe it will be PG-13-rated?

Because I'd bet you anything that this won't be, really. I agree that the PG-13 horror wave recently sucks, but it is simply not true that every single horror film does that. Yes, Black Christmas wasn't big, but then again, neither will be Last House, IMO.

Seriously, It.Will.Be.R-Rated.
