Guess a sex scene with Angelina Jolie wasn't enough for him. Great list Jules, though I think I'm the only person in the world who didn't love Knocked Up.

 Re: KJ User's Top 100 Lists Vol.2 - jujubee
35. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) Another weird for the sake of weird movie, but this one is so pretty. I love the whole snow on the beach thing. And the going through his mind. The story doesn't flow perfectly, which just adds to it, I think. 34. Can't Hardly Wait (1998) This may go back to my Ethan Embry love, but this is a movie I watched hundreds of time back during high school. Yeah, high school was nothing like this for me, and I could barely related to anyone, but it was funny and sweet and wonderful despite that. 33. Sin City (2005) The look of this movie is what really sells it for me. The story is good and all, but I love how dark it is and the rare uses of color. I'm not much of a comic book fan, and don't really go for most comic book movies, but this was an exception to the norm. It really felt like watching a comic book on screen, rather than just the same story turned into some other form. 32. The Usual Suspects (1995) Yes, I figured it out shortly before I should've, and, yes, if you think too hard about the whole movie you start questioning the whole thing, but apart from that, it's a great movie. Kevin Spacey is amazing. Gabriel Byrne is amazing. Benicio Del Toro, Stephen Baldwin, all of them. Amazing. Something I can watch over and over again without ever getting tired. 31. Little Miss Sunshine (2006) I very very rarely see movies twice in theaters anymore. Hell, seeing it even once is usually a surprise. This was probably the first movie I saw twice in theaters since the first Harry Potter came out and it took me a couple viewings to realize just how much I hated it. This movie basically just makes me smile. Non-stop. It's laugh out loud funny, and just so damn feel good. Which is weird, when you think about it. I mean, the grandpa dies, the uncle tries to kill himself, the brother finds out all his dreams are dead, the father doesn't get his job. Yeah, very uplifting. But it is! 30. After the Thin Man (1936) 29. The Thin Man (1934) These two have to go together. While the later Thin Man movies lost a bit of their appeal, the first two were wonderful. The chemistry between Myrna Loy and William Powell is great, and both of them have spot on comedic timing. 28. The Philadelphia Story (1940) Last Cary Grant, I promise. I love this movie. It was something I resisted watching for a while, for some reason. I thought it was going to be some boring drama, but I was wrong! Though I'm not a big fan of Jimmy Stewart here. Probably just because he was moving in on Cary Grant's territory, which I did not approve of. 27. The Rock (1996) You know how things always go in twos? Well the one that went with the was The Jackal, and this one was a million times better. Best Nic Cage movie ever. The whole Cage/Connery dynamic was great. Of course, there is the whole drawback thing where I decided I was definitely going to die from whatever that horrible chemical was. But that fear only lasted for about 5 or 6 years. Maybe 8 or 9.... 26. Mars Attack! (1996) Last Burton. I know people don't like this movie, but I find it hilarious and brilliant. Come on, you can't possibly see the aliens running around carrying the translation machine saying "Do not run. We will not hurt you," without cracking up. I admit that the Sarah Jessica Parker/Pierce Brosnan plot is less than wonderful, but it's so minor that it doesn't take away from the rest. Coming up, top 25 and the revelation of my love of three directors. (Well, four, since one is a duo.)

Oh, damn. I just realized I left a very important movie off the list. 25.5 His Girl Friday (1940) Ok, so another Cary Grant. This is another great pairing, this time of Grant and Rosalind Russell. The dialogue is great, with all the quick quips and everything. This is what I think of as the ideal screwball couple.

 Re: KJ User's Top 100 Lists Vol.2 - jujubee
25. Man on the Moon (1999) This is a movie that makes me cry, but it's so good anyway. It presents the life of Andy Kaufman in such a wonderful way that it makes it into this whole fairy tale that someone who didn't live through it can hardly believe. 24. O, Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000) This is the first of one of the three directing teams/directors that I obviously love. This was the first Coen Bros movie that I actually consciously knew was Coen Bros. The folksy feel is great. Clooney is perfect with his suave persona. And then there's the music! 23. Kill Bill Vol. 2 (2004) And here's the second director. I know most people like Vol. 2 better than Vol. 1, but I don't. This is still in my top 25, because it completes the story and such, but the music sorta ruined it for me. Vol. 1 had a much better sound track. Plus, Vol. 1 was all about the random killing, while Vol. 2 was more about story. And who cares about story? Plus, SHE KILLED BILL. That was the worst thing to ever possibly happen. Beatrix and Bill are like one of the great love stories of our time! 22. The Life of Brian (1979) This is my favorite Monty Python movie. If you need a reason, go check out the clip Groucho posted in bABA's "most random scene" thread. 21. Fargo (1996) Another Coen Bros. This is one that I had to learn to appreciate, since the first time I saw it was too young to be exposed to that sort of thing. But now, watching the one guy putting Steve Buscemi in the wood chipper is just great.

20. I Huckabees (2004) Another weird for sake of weird, but despite all the problems I acknowledge it has, it makes me laugh. I just find it so adorably wonderful. 19. A Mighty Wind (2003) And here's the third director. I love Christopher Guest, and this is a great one. The music is great and the whole tone hits perfectly. 18. Goodfellas (1990) I resisted seeing this for years, since I'm not a big fan of The Godfather, and thought it would be just like that. I was wrong. This is fun as well as lots of shooting! I think my favorite scene is when they are in jail and showing how they are all doing so well in there. 17. Miller's Crossing (1990) Another Coen movie. And another gangster movie. 16. Gone With the Wind (1939) Gah. Ok, so this is one of my favorite books and while the movie changes it by a whole lot, I still love it so much. Makes me cry like crazy. The dresses are wonderful and RHETT BUTLER.

15. Ocean's 11 (2001) My boys being adorably cute! I'm a sucker for watching how they tricked everyone and such. But, really, it's just because they are so damn cute! 14. This is Spinal Tap (1984) Guest again. This was the first one I saw, and it took me a bit to really get it, because I was rather young, but now I can appreciate it. "But this one goes to 11." 13. Ocean's 12 (2004) Yes, I like 12 more than 11. I know, the heist itself isn't as great, but, dude, the boys are even more cute and adorable. It's a movie I can watch a thousand times and just wear a huge grin the whole time each time. 12. Best in Show (2000) What I really love about Guest is how something as boring as dog shows or folk music can become so incredibly hilarious and interesting. I think what really sold me the first time I saw this was the yuppies who always had coffee at the Starbucks across the street from each other. 11. Pulp Fiction (1994) I watched this for the first film class I ever took, and loved it. It was my first Tarantino film, too, though I did catch little snippets of Jackie Brown when my mom thought I wasn't in the room. But the various stories that interweaved and didn't follow any sort of order just made me so happy. And the blood was awesome, too.

 Re: KJ User's Top 100 Lists Vol.2 - jujubee
Finally, the top 10. (I'm so bored at work today.) 10. Fight Club (1999) So, yeah, twist at the end, of course I love it. But this is so much more. It almost shaped the way I watch movies to some extent. For instance: Ever since this movie, I can't watch any movie in theaters without seeing that. I should mention that I saw this before reading the book. It's possible that that would have ruined things for me, since I do love the book more than the movie, and likely would've hated the movie seeing it second. (Of course, that's mostly only due to the ending. I actually like how they did a lot of the earlier stuff better than in the book. But the book just has such a great ending, while the movie sorta just stops.) But my subsequent love of the book (which led to my love of Palalalalalhuk in general) does not take away from my love of the movie. 9. Casablanca (1942) Ok, so it's possible I'm a bit of a sap, but I love this movie. But, come on, it's got some of the greatest lines ever. Claude Rains is absolutely wonderful. From watching various behind the scenes things, he's the one who made the end so great with the "Major Strasser's been shot! [long pause while looking at Rick] Round up the usual suspects" since he added in the unscripted pause. (Unless I'm remember wrong...) But there's also: Renault: I'm shocked, shocked to find that there is gambling going on here! Croupier: Your winnings, sir. Renault: Oh, thank you very much. Everybody out at once. Basically, as much as this is a total romance, I love it for reasons that have nothing to do with sap. 8. Donnie Darko (2001) This is one of those movies that you have to sit there and think about for about two years after seeing it. It took me that long to really even start to get the whole thing, and despite going through the whole donniedarko.com site, I still don't fully get it. Some might think that's a reason not to love a movie, but something that sticks with you that long is awesome. And then there's music. I love it so much. Anyone who claims that they aren't moved by the use of Mad World in the end scene is lying. 7. Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2002) I do love my conspiracy theories. And I love movies that are done so well that you really truly do believe them. And I really truly do believe that Chuck Barris was a CIA agent, no matter how implausible that may be. (Fine, maybe a lot of it is just really truly WANTING it to be true.) And the scene with George Clooney sitting on the diving board with the blood draining out of him is something that sticks with you forever. This made me fall in love with Sam Rockwell, but then he had to go and ruin that with his version of Zaphod in Hitchhikers. 6. Kill Bill Vol. 1 (2003) And here's part one. As I said before, I know I'm the odd man out here, but I find this so much better than the vol. 2. The killing of the crazy 88s is a scene unmatched by any other. As ridiculously comic book as it may be, it was completely wonderful. Also, THE MUSIC. So much better. The music that started up anytime Uma Thurman got that look in her eye just set the tone so wonderfully. That was definitely lacking in the second volume. (I know it was in there occasionally, but not as much as in the first.) The tune whistled as Daryl Hannah walked down the hall to kill her was perfect. Nancy Sinatra's Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down) was so perfect. It all was. Totally made the movie for me. I'll post the last five when I get home.

 Re: KJ User's Top 100 Lists Vol.2 - jujubee
5. Snatch (2000) I've apparently given the wrong impression here and it appears as if I love Brad Pitt. Not true. He's great in five movies: Snatch, Fight Club, and the Oceans movies. Any other movie I could take him or leave him. (Plus the whole weird Jolie thing is a huge turn off.) But, anyway, here, where you can't understand a word he says, is my absolute favorite role of his. Of course, this movie is really all about the Statham, not Pitt. I love Turkish. Also Tommy. 4. The Big Lebowski (1998) I think this is the only role where I actually like Jeff Bridges. (Though it could just be that I always confuse him with Jeff Daniels, who I think has yet to make himself likable to me.) But I really like him here. And this movie is just so much fun to watch. The music is great, the story is soooo great, the acid trip this takes you on is even greater. I love it so much. It's something that needs to be watched at least once a year to remember just how great it really is. 3. Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998) Another Ritchie movie. (Why can't he make good movies anymore? I blame Madonna.) This one being about cards makes me even happier than Snatch. Card movies are wonderful. Rounders could've made it to the top 100 if it weren't for the girl, who I thought totally ruined the movie. But anyway, Lock, Stock. Another great buddy bad guy movie. Yes, nearly the same as Snatch (or Snatch was nearly the same as this) but why is that a bad thing when they both are wonderful? The scene at the end totally pissed me off when I first saw it, but now I appreciate it as the wonderful thing it is. 2. A Life Less Ordinary (1997) You know what's really weird? I really really like Ewan MacGregor, but I only really love one of his movies. I'm not a Star Wars fan, I HATED Moulin Rouge, Trainspotting, while brilliant, was way too disturbing for me, Big Fish was fun but less so the more you think about it, etc. But I really love MacGregor. He needs to do more really great movies like this one. Again, a totally weird movie. It took me several viewings before I could even follow the beginning (it's easier after the kidnapping). The look and feel of this, and then the ending, just make me love it so much. Totally quirky and wonderful.

Kidding. Real #1 is 1. The Hudsucker Proxy (1994) I really really love the Coen Bros. Out of the twelve movies they have made so far, I have seen ten (haven't gotten around to No Country yet, and I'm not sure why I've never seen Blood Simple), and of those ten, five are in my top 25. And I only disliked one of them. (Raising Arizona. I know, shoot me.) Anyway, from the moment Waring Hudsucker takes a running start across the conference table until the very end, this movie is just brilliant. The whole feel that it is a real screwball comedy from the 40s is wonderful. I love Jennifer Jason Leigh here. (Another actor that I'm not particularly fond of outside this role.) The dialogue is all great and the look just transports you. And with that, I'm done. I'll post the whole list in a minute.
