The string of recent films continues but don't worry Humphrey Bogart, Alfred Hitchcock and Henry Fonda will be coming up soon.

here is one some of you will like or hate.. :P

73. Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl

Image

The sequels were not that great really especially AWE

I don't know what it is about this film but many many people really like it a lot. I even call it a modern classic really as i see it as one of those films 20 years latter that will always be on TV like Back to the Future or something like that.

This film is packed full of pirate battles, swashbuckling action and lots of humour typically of most blockbuster films but this one does in a much better way.
The high lite is of course the legendary Jack Sparrow who was really funny and enjoyable in this film and his entrance was just classy. However the character really got ruined in the next two films. He was just a guy running around desperately trying to be a idiot and funny. In this one it just happened really. In the sequels it looked forced.

Also imo Captain Barbarossa was a great nemesis. A honorable and unintentionally funny but cruel enemy.

Also Keira Knightley was much more beautiful in this film. She looked stunning in those Victorian Dresses she wore and in the other two film, she looks good but nothing special.

This film was a good mix of action and humour and it had a simple plot while the sequels were overblown and everything looked forced.

72. The Incredibles

Image

This film is just pure mix of fun, humour, adventure and action at its best.

This film has some amazing animation for a Pixar film especially the Star Wars style chase scene with the young boy was just amazing.

All of the characters are just amazing and all have cool powers.

My only dislike it takes to long to start off, however I liked that this film signaled the fact that Pixar has grown up. This film has torture, lots of death and killing even of innocent people and is quite chilling and dark at times.

With being able to make a film with such great action and fun with very dark overtones, its easily one of the best animation films ever made.

your wish is fulfilled Kypade... :funny:

(i hope) :er:

71. Finding Nemo

Image

I love pixar films, they are meant for adults but kids can enjoy them as well. Its a amazing how they can take films and have such perfect lovable endings but have dark mature undertones as well.

The film it self is just beautiful in scope and is just plain visually amazing. The characters are just plain funny and amazing to watch, and Ellen is just amazing at her role.

The movie is a fun journey through jellyfish forest, an underwater expressway and a WW2 sub. It ends up with a crazy messed up climax in a dentists office in Sydney...

I like how the movie has great simple action and comedy put some real inside jokes for older people as well and that what has made pixar so popular.

okay more animation and its my 2nd last one....

70. Mulan

Image

underrated imo, as its one of the best looking 2d animation films out there. With great music and a great storyline, this film is a great mix of many things. The Mongol invasion scene in the mountains was just amazing really, one of the best 2d animated scenes ever. IMO the highlite of the film!

The rest of the film is really good, however the ending is nowhere near as special as the mountain scene.

Mulan is a very good character and the dragon is very funny and the three sidekick are just adorable.

now i will get some flak for this choice, but its overrated but i can see why it became such a huge hit.

69. Titanic

Image

Um i really the last half of the film a lot. The disaster scene is very tragic and all but cool to watch...

It was a perfect mix of a love story for females and the disaster movie for males, so it was watchable by everyone really.

The characters are alright but the Captain is cool and I really don't care for the first half of the film. The 2nd half is really well done as its tragic, depressing, entertaining all at the same time. The scene with the band was really tragic and sad and so was the whole ending really.

A great tragic film really.

As I said elsewhere, I won't give flack for it. I think it is overrated, but the movie made 600 million. It obviously pleased many.

i just like the 2nd half a lot. Especially the scene with the band playing their final tune. "Its been a pleasure gentlemen."

The next film is a gem of the 90's and one of the few early exploration films that were made properly.

68. Last of the Mohicans

Image

Talk about a film that has a spectacular soundtrack that takes a pretty decent story and makes it into a very powerful emotionally charged epic film. The ending with the music is just pure beauty really. You knew what would happen but the music just elevated everything and turned a predictable ending into a powerful finale.

The fight scenes are quite gory and action packed but short. It has melee combat, a fort siege and a double love story. The film does not focus too much on the love story, so it keeps the film going. The use of English, French and the native languages is really amazing really.

The characthers are just spectacular. The two women are very good, the guys father look like a native version of Johnny Cash. (did anyone else notice that) That means he looked cool. :shades:

The main guy is just great great at his role and the scenery is just amazing. Through mountains and cliffs and down rivers and under waterfalls. Mixed in with the epic soundtrack and you get a really strong film with really imo a decent story.

Everything in the film is in tempo with the music, especially the ending really. The ending is just amazing even though it was just the good guys winning (with some sacrifices of course).

67. Blade Runner
Image

A film that was ahead of its time...

Its been called the film that started it all and it sort of did and it is really good. The director's cut of course. Han Solo.... erhm i mean Harrison Ford is great at his role as he is cool and sort of funny and the the robot woman was just amazing really.

It is easily one the best sc-fi films ever, as the special effects do not look outdated at all really. It is a very well made film really and deserves its accolades. Also it focus on topics like Globalization back in 1982 so that shows the film was quite ahead of its time.

66. Toy Story

Image
"to infinity and beyond!!!!!!!!!"

Another childhood favourite of mine and this one was the original Cgi film really.

The film had amazing characters and the sequel was rather well made but It for some reason was not as great as the first.

This film shows why pixar is king in animation. It has childish humour and adult humour all at the same time and is the main reason why they have become so successful.

The film is rather funny and action filled all at the same time and Capitan buzz is just hilarious!

My third Hindi film

64. Bobby (hindi!)

Image

Well its considered to be one of the best Bollywood movies ever. Its a typical rich guy meets poor girl love story however this one is done more in a Romeo and Juillet point of view, with there being teenage lovers. It actually started that whole trend and countless movies have been made off its storyline.
The movie has spectacular songs which at least three have become all time classics. The actors are amazing and look really good, and the girls father is a Drunk fisherman, so he provides a lot of comedy.
The movie is a bit westernized to, something else that was ahead of it time.

I just love the songs in the film really a lot, and the story and humour are just bonus.

Savour the modern films now, as a Hitchcock domination is ahead!! :funny:

63. The Matrix

Image

This film was really well made and it had a huge effect on film making with its special effects...

This film was quite deep but it did not appear so at first. To me it seemed like a simple dystopia action film, a rather well made one. Then i looked more deeply into the film and realized all of the deep philosophical meanings of the film, and I was amazed.

The film's action was definitely a trend setter. The bullet time effect easily has become one of the most popular action scenes ever. Also a lot of films and shows try to copy the Matrix look, but always failed a lot.

However I am more amazed the could screw this series up soo badly really. Reloaded was alright as it had amazing action scenes but my God revolution wanted me to cry in anger!!

62. Batman Begins

Image

A modern comic book action film with a strange classy feel that makes it so much better, like Gattaca.

Well with Micheal Cane, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson and Christian Bale this movie had a solid all star cast. This mix of modern and older actors really separates this film from so many other comic book films. Great acting!!!

The film has this dark and scary feeling but it has this classy rich look, that makes this film look so amazing. This movie was really well made no doubt, its box office run proved that as it had expectational legs.

The movie has a really good story, but when Bale when to China i was wondering if this was the right film. The film in the start was going all over the place and then it finally settled down and it became really good.

This movie had good action but it was a very psychological film as well.

This and X-men 2 are easily the best comic book films ever made and have significantly raised the bar on these films. Due to the great Word of Mouth this film has , I think the sequel will become a much bigger hit, bet lets hope the quality does not suffer.

61. Forrest Gump

Image

This is one film where some people see it as funniest film ever or a stupid film with no real meaning.

I find the story to be boring really but I really like the travel through time that happens.

From the clean happy 50's to Vietnam and the summer of love to the retro 70's and even to the 80's.This film satirizes all of the major moment in American history. From Forrest seeing burglars in the Watergate hotel to Nixon going to China...

He meets John Lennon, and of the major presidents and I find that to be really fun and interesting. Its a journey through an epic story through the last 50 years of History. It was a fun silly ride really and I enjoyed it.

However Entertainment weekly said this film really draws the line between moviegoers, more so then other films. Half find it to melodramatic and the other half can't stop laughing at its absurdity.

another great classy film...

60. Sunset Boulevard

Image

You must have all heard of this film and just thinking of the title of the film is just classy!!

It is easily the best film about Hollywood itself. Nothing even comes close...

There is great acting from William Holden and Gloria Swanson was just spectacular. The line "All right, Mr DeMille, I'm ready for my close up" is just pure brilliant...

The story is dark and chilling especially considering it was made all the way back in 1950 but nonetheless it helps it stand the test of time.

59. American History X
Image

A extremely disturbing film about neo Nazism in the deep south States...

The film is very violent as the curb side jaw crushing will make even an extortioner flinch. :shades:
That scene is just a bit more frightening then seeing Edward Norton getting raped in jail... and then his brother getting his brain blown out...

A very disturbing film about a very terrible topic... The story is wonderful, Edward Norton is amazing in his role and this is easily a must see film...

another one of those disturbing films about a real part of the world.

Those are the films that are the best and the ones that are the most depressing...
