Onto the Thing, it was a great movie. The only thing that bothered me with it was a couple of minor "oh look Im stupid" moments, like the guy standing there waiting for the thing to bite his head off.

Also the beginning where you see the spaceship flying to earth... completely unnecessary, luckily it was the beginning so I can just pretend it never happened.

Whoops, sorry. And I agree with you about Aliens (as if the lack of it on my top 100 didn't give it away enough), it's a great watch, but I don't think it's one of the best sci-fi/action flicks, as some make it out to be. The original is far superior. That's a great cover that Gulli posted, though. But were you really gonna post screenshots, Gulli? Sorry for ruining that if you were....

Maybe Argos/Guybrush should go again. Or we can wait for Joseba to finish his list. If not, I'll go again. :P

No worries, the fact you knew my top 5 before hand was flattering :wub2:

I'll expect masses of French New Wave on your next list Trix :P

Also it kind of ruined what should have been a really cool revealing moment later in the movie when they visit the dig site.

Yeah right, as pretentious as I try to be, I'll never be yoshue/makeshift. :P

There'll probably only be like five new films on my new list, considering it's only been like two months since I did it. Maybe less than that. Maybe I'll do it again in a year if I'm still here.

Even though Id never be a big enough douchebag to post a 3rd list(at least not yet), if I was to make one right now, Id have over 20 new ones. No, I have them written down. It was a good summer of using internet dvd renting.

Post Re: KJ User's Top 100 Lists Vol.2 - Gullimont
i will go....

but only 6 films today....

i start off with over rated classics but decent favourite films of mine...
Then move I will move in with some recent great films after.

100. The Ten Commandments
Image

This film was quite an epic film and I do like the story, however this film is severely outdated more so then Ben-hur. However I still love watching the ending parts every year at Easter... I am not a Christian or anything but I find Bible epics to be alright time to time.

99. Citizen Kane
Image

Another one of those great groundbreaking films but doesn't real capture anything special in my view... I love the acting by Wells but it gets quite boring at times...However I still like the starting of the film a lot... however Baumer your right about this film...

98. Gone With The Wind
Image

Perhaps the most popular film ever, it looks old but not 1939 old to me. Its massive, its huge, it mesmerizing at times and the movie has iconic scenes all throughout the film. Casablanca is similar in that way, however this film suffers from being tooooo long and from having much more then it really needs. Some scenes are just brutal to sit through and you are just dieing, to get the great iconic parts. In Casablanca, the film is more even so that does not really happen.

97. All About Eve
Image

Anne Baxter and Bette Davis are just amazing, however the rest of the cast i felt was nothing in comparison to those two. The film is really great at times but where the scenes where Anne Baxter/ Bette Davis are not around are actually very boring and really make the film feel so uneven... However Anne Baxter's/ Bette Davis's performance is still a sight to see and so shoudl all of you as well.

96. The African Queen
Image

This movie has an average storyline and a regular happy ending. What makes this film so liked by some is that it features two of the greatest actors of all time. Bogart and Hepburn... Just seeing those two together in this film, makes it a favourite film of mine even though the storyline is quite average. Bogart is a cool slick Canadian in the film, while Hepburn is the typical ethical smart British Woman. There chemistry is great and they really make up more for the rather average plot.

95. ben-Hur
Image

This film is a childhood classic of mine really. The chariot race scene still today look like it was only made 10-15 years ago not 48 years ago... Many other scenes like the Boat scene are great scenes in this quite average film. The starting and ending are quite boring and the ending is sentimental but too religious themed. However the sheer scope and size of this film is just amazing, and I still enjoy the 1 hr of the 3 hrs in this film a lot....

now that I got your attention, we shall start off with some more recent films Tomorrow...

The reason why I am criticizing some of these film above, because I had to give a reason why I had films like All about eve near 100th place...

I can't believe you are finished already Gulli! Jeebus Cris.

Yeah, I'm so not ready, so I'm glad Manny stepped up.

Seriously, I was not over exaggerating when I said I probably would not be ready for at least another month. I'm trying to correlate this with my blog somehow, so I'm putting some extra effort into it I probably normally wouldn't.

As promised i give you some more recent films...

94. Braveheart
Image
The film is just excellent with a nice story, great fighting scenes and everything. It brings out the man inside of you really... The movie is still quite a sad one with the brutal killing of his lover and his sad death... However this film is one of the better made war-love films made in the 90's but last of Mohicans is better..

93. The Karate Kid

Image
A childhood favourite of mine really, it has a nice story with some good actors especially the master himself!!! The movie is a nice feel good film about a guy becoming a karate champion and a guy who wins his girl in the end. The karate kick at the end was just awesome and I used against my cousins when we were little. Very effective!!

92. Pulp Fiction
Image

I don't see the god like admiration of this film, nonetheless this is a great film and Samuel L Jackson is just amazing. I found it a tad weird, but very interesting but I found the rest of the characters were nowhere near as good as Jackson.

91. A clockwork Orange.

Chilling, disturbing but amazing all at the same time. Kubrick's films were always dark really even Spartacus was a very dark epic...

A very solid list there, Gulli. But I really never could understand all the love for City of God. Very solid flick, but not a masterpiece, IMO.

90. Star Wars: Return of the Jedi

my least favourite of the original 3 but it is a child hood classic of mine.

The battle scenes are amazing and so are many scenes. The ending duel imo is one of the best scenes in all of the films really.

The space battle is lots of fun even today, its not really much out of date really.

However, those stupid care bears really ruin this film.

Quote:
Forget it, Jake. It's Chinatown...

Jack Nicholson in a great role and easily one of his bests. He is better in Cuckoo nest though.

However this film is so retro yet very entertaining even today...

The story is great, the acting is wonderful and the dialog is something i miss in Hollywood now...

chilling, disturbing and brutual...
Anthony Hopkins shows us why he is easily one of the great living actors with his short yet amazing performance...

That sound he made me shiver more so then a Canadian blizzard....

A film made on a great book and its a great adaptation of one of the greatest tales of revenge ever.

The acting is great, the scenery is wonderful and the time period really makes this film look stylish. Even though any person with a basic knowledge of western literature already knows the story...

A very good movie. Not anything like the book, but come on, the book was 1200 pages long. Of course it would be different.

I actually kind of forgot about this whilst making my own top 100, may have made it.
