Vedder is awesome, and so is this song.

Guaranteed and Hard Sun are brilliantly used in the movie. But of course I'm going to want this to win Best Song, I haven't had a new movie make me fall in love with it like Into the Wild did in a year or two.

I think Ever Ever After by Carrie Underwood for Enchanted will win now.

Lol She has two songs for Love in the Time of Cholera. It's too bad that the movie doesn't look like it's headed anywhere cause otherwise I think she'd have a chance of pulling an "Al Otro Lado del Rio" type win.
I still think a nomination is at least POSSIBLE though.

"How Does She Know?", "So Close", and "Ever Ever After" are some pretty awesome songs. The other two, "True Love's Kiss" and "Happy Working Song" are fun, too, but probably a bit too cutesy to be considered. Hmmm... is it possible for a movie to have more than one nomination in the Best Original Song category? I don't know how all that works... Joy

Re: Eddie Vedder And Into The Wild Could Beat Out The Musicals..
looks like there is gonna be SOME competition this year!!!
I wouldn't mind if Once won the song but I want Into the Wild to get anything it can and I really do love that song that loyal posted up on this thread.
Haven't heard anything from Enchanted though.

Joy Yes a movie can have multiple nominations in the song category. Dreamgirls, Lion King, and Beauty and the Beast got the record three song nominations. Meanwhile, the following had two nominations: Cold Mountain, Aladdin, The Bodyguard, Flashdance, Footloose, Yentl, The Little Mermaid, White Nights, and Fame. I believe Fame is the first film to receive more than one song nomination.

Re: Eddie Vedder And Into The Wild Could Beat Out The Musicals..
It seems like most of the frontrunners this year in Best Original Song have multiple songs being submitted. The numerous numbers from Once and Into The Wild, plus "Ladies' Choice," "(Come So Far) Got So Far To Go" and "The New Girl In Town" from Hairspray, "That's How You Know," "So Close," "Happy Working Song," "True Love's Kiss" and "Ever Ever After" from Enchanted. It's going to be a tight race.

So apparently Enchanted is Alan Menken's return to form, and we all know how many gazillion Oscars he got for writing and composing Disney themes, Enchanted could very well mark his big comeback to the Oscar stage.

Eddie is also a liberal friend to many in the audience.
I think Eddie will feasibly win or at least be nominated, I am just disgusted by these songs. More disgusted by the idea that people actually LIKE these songs.
Pearl Jam and Eddie Vedder have fallen sooooooooooooooooo far in my estimation.

There haven't been many good nominated songs in recent years...
