Jon's first was a nice and ambitious notion, but I wasn't in love with it

Stewart may be a lot of things - - but one thing he sure as shootin' ain't - - is an Oscar host...

Stewart is about 542359332492x funnier than Ellen. But then again, most people are.

Colbert hosting would top them all, though.

I think Jon and Ellen delivered ons somewhat the same level, so either one would have been great. I guess I may prefer Jon for next year since it is an election year and even though they don't mix alot of politics, he could be more in his element I guess.

Yeah, I agree. Neither was great, but I love both of them and would like to see them get another shot at it.

Ellen was awful. If it really has to be a TV personality I'd take Dave Chappelle over Stewart, but he was servicable enough.

I could care less about Jon Stewart and his overated show, but I dont understand how Dave Chappelle would be a good host for the Oscars. Theres no indication whatsoever that he can take on that gig, thats not his act and I doubt he would even really take it if it was offered to him, it's not his forte.

You get people like Robin Williams, Jerry Seinfeld, Conan, Colbert, etc for this kind of gig.

Stewart was okay. I really felt like he alienated the audience, and had some awkward moments. I don't think he meshes with the whole Oscar host role. With Ellen, everything is a party and everyone is comfortable and happy at the awards. I prefer to see her again.

I wonder if Jon Stewart will even accept though.

It could have been worse, Rock or Degeneres again.

I like the idea of him getting a second chance. Hopefully he does a little better this time.

The fact that Gil Cates is back really worries me (He's the same guy that put the nominees on the stage or out in the auditorium and had background music for the winners, gah), though hopefully Stewart can break past that for some excellent stuff like he did last time (Three 6 Mafia: One Oscar; Martin Scorsese: Zero). I'd love to see him have another shot.

And for those complaining, check out Ryan Seacrest hosting the Emmys this Sunday. You'll see that it can always be a whole lot worse.

He has my style of humor, I'd much prefer Colbert, though.

Yeah, I can't see Colbert not appearing, seeing how he seems to have eclipsed Stewart in popularity. Plus, his co-presenting gig with Stewart at the Emmys last year was a highlight.

Too true. So, while I'm not entirely happy with Stewart coming back, he's still a great choice.

Woot. Now I'm already excited for the Oscars - this is too early, I have such a long wait! Urggh. I don't remember the host being announced this early before - wasn't it always relatively late in the game, to start buzz for the show? Maybe I'm imagining things.

Oops I stand corrected. Ellen was announced the same time last year. It was Jon Stewart's first time that was announced late. He was announced around January of 2006, for the March 2006 awards (Crash vs. Brokeback).

Stewart was great, so this is a good pick. Although, yeah, if Colbert were the host, that'd be fucking amazinggggggg.

I remember reading an article about this about a week ago and was bummed. It's always tough to find a good host let alone one who actually Wants to do the show. It's a tight line you have to walk taking shots at Hollywood actors who are in the audience because these are people who really aren't there for jokes and people who could probably hurt your career at some point. Anyway, I thought the choice for Stewart again was a poor one. I found his first hosting job unfunny and boring. It doesn't help that I think his delivery sucks and his facial expressions a one note act. The hot choice of the year would have been Rosie Odonnell, but I guess no one bothered to ask. Oh well, I'll still watch the show. How can I not?
