New app with 10 minute or less shows. Made for a world on the go, it launches when nobody is going anywhere. 3 month free trial though so I’ll check it out.

Running tally:

Good:
The Most Dangerous Game - would have made a good movie
Dishmantled - very fun and creative
Agua Donkey - probably could be on comedy central
Fierce Queens - good if you like animal docs

OK:
Speed Run - good if you like video games
Memory Hole - irreverent fun
Singled Out - trashy nostalgia
Dummy - Anna Kendrick makes it fun

Meh:
The Stranger - sociopath porn
Survive - depressing
Murder House Flip - not enough murder
50 States of Fright - soapy

I want to check if it because of the free trial. I heard they'll drop one episode per week though.

Most shows says one episode per day. I watched the first episode of Survive with Sophie Turner and while I respect what they’re trying to do, I don’t think it’s for me. Definitely hanging out on 13 Reasons Why’s lawn.

Ah it's per day than that's good. I haven't checked out any shows yet.

I think 10 minute episodes 5 times a week is cool, but why would I want to watch a show on my phone?

Post subject:  Re: QuiBi

Yeah it's not for me. I don't go enough places by myself to watch stuff on my phone.

Isn't something specifically designed for your phone about eight years too late?

I watch Youtube on my phone before bed, that's pretty much the only media I consume on my phone all day and I have a variety of options. I don't see me trading that for QuiBi.

I enjoyed the nature doc show Fierce Queens. Reese does a good job with the narration, it is cutesy but not too much so like the Disney ones. Still, animal videos are not exactly rare on the internet. Will need more to convince me $5 a month is worth it.

Titus Burgess' cooking game show Dishmantled is my favorite thing on the app so far. A dish of food explodes onto two blindfolded contestants, who then have to figure out what it originally was by taste and touch only, then actually cook the food they think it was.

"Nikki Fre$h" is hilarious.

I've been trying out a bunch of their shows. "Most Dangerous Game" is cheesy but pretty engaging and "Gayme Show" and "Memory Hole" are fun.

"Survive" still has to get going plotwise but I'll stick with it.

Only 1.7 mil downloads in the first week.

That is awful but they did launch at the worst time possible.

I've noticed that every single show has been geared towards girls and/or gays. There is no manly men show or even a nerdy man show (though Memory Hole kinda works for this.) I can still enjoy stuff like Dishmantled and Fierce Queens, but I think they badly need to diversity their product if they are going to thrive once people are on the move again.

Flop. Not sure why they couldn't delay the launch.

The strategy was to release it now when people are stuck at home. It will take sometime for people to adjust to this new format but yeah that numbers are concerning why when the app is free for 3 months

OMG he did direct it. I'm having a panic attack over this.

It gets less funny when you realize it's one episode of a scary story type anthology. But the execution is still so, so bad and like 30 Rock or SNL is making a parody.

Yeah 50 States is definitely one of the more absurd things I've seen. But I don't think they did it that way on purpose so I doubt I'll watch anymore than the two episodes I've seen.

On the other hand, Agua Donkeys is legit funny and the type of bro-comedy you would see on Comedy Central.

I just can't stop thinking and laughing about it. I might register on Quibi just for this stupidity :hahaha:

Wow so apparently most of these shows have already concluded their first seasons. I figured, given the short length, the seasons would be much longer or there wouldn’t be seasons at all.

Post subject:  Re: Quibi

Yea I thought the play would be you take a full season and split it into 10 minutes parts once a day for a week, then do that for like 13 weeks.

They must either have hundreds of shows in the tank ready to launch every week, or will run out of original content by June and get bought by Facebook in August.
