I have a few opinions for later, but the total lack of love for Rhea Seehorn AGAIN is criminal. They even made up for Michael McKean's snub last season with a guest actor nod, but Seehorn's Kim Wexler is the best Saul-only character, worthy of being in the Bad universe.

I wouldn't classify Russian Doll as comedy per se its a lot more serious and dramatic especially as it goes along but still outstanding show. Also, please tell me why The Handmaids Tale isn't nominated for anything?!?!?! Outstanding show

-Schitt's Creek is an incredible and welcome surprise for Levy, O'Hara and Comedy series. Seriously never expected to see a little CBC show from Canada make its way to the big stage of the Emmys. Is this the first primarily Canadian series to snag major Emmy consideration?

-Beyond thrilled for the incredible main cast of Barry all getting nominated, especially new noms Carrigan, Root and Goldberg. So damn deserving.

-I'm glad the Emmys didn't ignore the final season of GOT. Personally felt it was a stellar season with a decent ending. Flaws be damned. Even if they're shut out of major wins, it should clean up in technical categories.

-The two most disappointing snubs so far are Rhea Seehorn for Better Call Saul and D'Arcy Carden for The Good Place. They even nominated the episode for which she should have been recognized.

-Mandy Moore surprisingly got her first acting nomination for This is Us, something she deserved from the start. I don't think there is as much buzz around the show now, but it's still well-acted.

-Glad to see Jodie Comer get nominated alongside Sandra Oh. I was glad for Oh last year, but felt they snubbed Comer.

Go HBO shows! Thrones is the only drama series I’ve even seen. Da fuq is Homecoming or Hill House?

Barry getting five acting noms is awesome.

Will Julia Luis Dreyfuss keep her streak?

Apparently GOT could have got more nominations since you had three actors submit themselves for consideration and they got nominations. Like come on now. The hound could have been nominated or did HBO not submit his name either .

Much was made of Gwendolyn Christie submitting herself for a nomination, but apparently they all did? That's what I read. Is this a standard thing? I can see some having to, but even Kit and Emilia?

It would be remarkable if she goes 7 for 7. That would be a pretty untouchable streak. Only Candice Bergen and Helen Hunt come close to winning for more than 50% of their runs in the same role. Even at 6 consecutive, it's impressive, but I kind of want to see her extend the streak.

This is also the last season and she came back from breast cancer. The Emmys won't be able to resist this

No host for the Emmys, after a hostless Oscars. Sounds good to me. The idea of an emcee for an awards show is unnecessary anyway. The announcer introduces all the presenters. The presenters give out the awards. Unless they can get someone who's willing to do better material as a host (less Fallon and more Gervais), then we don't need one.

Get Tina and Amy. Their hosting duties were great. It's hard to find a good host especially when they keep picking lame unfunny late night hosts. Bring back actual comedians.

Post subject:  Re: 2019 Emmy Nominations

I'm fine with no host. They'll just do a big opening with someone that'll feel like a host monologue, but they just don't be back at random points in the show to crack wise on presenters. Or they'll just go cold into the ceremony with the first award.

The Creative Arts Emmys were given out over the weekend. Of note, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and The Handmaid's Tale cleaned up in the guest actor categories (Luke Kirby and Jane Lynch for Maisel, Bradley Whitford and Cherry Jones for Handmaid). Meanwhile, Game of Thrones cleaned up with 10 wins out of 18 overall creative arts nominations. I do hope the show wins some on the big night Sunday, despite the overall backlash from fans.

I really should watch Fleabag, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Ozark.

Great wins for Bill Hader, Peter Dinklage and Jodie Comer. Disappointed in too many losses, but that's the path we take when we watch the Emmys.

They really went in on the British shows. Beating JLD at the Emmys is like beating the Undertaker at Wrestlemania

Game of Thrones was unbeatable in the best drama series. It just was.

And the only reason they lost hhe awards was because of the split voting leading to the unlikely candidate winning lol
But the only one they had one nomination? They won. And it was the most important award of the night.
Bravo

So glad the Emmys didn't succumb to online outrage over the final season. It was fantastic with a slightly less-than-exciting finale because they blew their load on episodes 3 and 5. But it deserved the big one. Too bad about Maisie and Emilia not picking up wins, or a directing win.

Also, I wish we could go back about five or six years and give Bob Newhart a Betty White resurgence in popularity. He still kills it every time.

And wow, the show had no host AND it ended on time? Who could have predicted?
