ABC REPORTEDLY SET TO EXPOSE IDOL

ABC News is reportedly working on a Primetime Live feature about Fox's hit series American Idol that is "potentially explosive," according to Daily Variety, which cited unnamed insiders at Fox. The trade paper said that the special, presumably featuring the program's chief investigative reporter, Brian Ross, would likely air the special outside the show's usual Thursday-night time period at 10:00 p.m. Variety indicated that the show will examine the relationships between the judges on the show -- Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and Randy Jackson -- and the contestants. The report emerged following a report in People magazine that Abdul, had attributed her seemingly erratic behavior on the show recently to her joy over conquering a painful medical disorder called Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy. "I want America to know that I have never been addicted to anything,'' she told the magazine. "I'm dancing for joy at the fact that not even a year ago I was in so much pain I could barely get up."

This potentially explosive fact just in - American Idol is a snooze.

I watched a few episodes from this season at the beginning, but once they narrow it down it gets seriously dull.

I actually think this season is about as open a competition as ever. I remember last season, when there was NEVER a doubt in my mind that Fantasia wouldn't win.

Think it has been rigged since the first season when Justin, the dude, and even Nicki, the rocker, should have won over Kelly, marbles in my mouth, Clarkson. Too bad Kelly isn't just a made up media star and had as much talent as there is excess fat in her stomach, thighs and butt. :wink:

Well, F.Y.I, there was a ripoff show from Pop Idol [the American Idol forefather] over here in Blighty called The X Factor.

It was created by Simon Cowell, who also judged in Pop Idol; he went into a legal grapple with the creator of pop idol Simon Fuller [also ex manager to the spice girls and now jus generally loaded] but then eventually they settled the differences.
Anyway Simon was a judge; and so was Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh [the latter also a judge on Pop Idol] and eventually Sharon Osbourne went to the press saying that basically Simon Cowell had been rigging it so that his contestants won and everyone elses lost; no one knows what the real story behind it was in the end; but what is known is that theres some sneaky buisness that goes on in those reality tv shows. At the end of the day its a record company's profits on the line... in particular, Simon Cowell's

WOW ABC must really be dipping low (like FOX standards low) in order to grab a piece of the ratings pie. Despite the efforts of Gray's Anatomy, Lost, and Desperate Housewives - it's still in a close match with Fox and NBC in total average viewers.
