Cuthbert has had some better material this season and has delivered with it, but it hasn't been enough to make much of an impression as of now, IMO.

The midseason ABC schedule is out and no sign of Happy Endings getting pulled. Good for Endings, bad for Cougar Town (which has no return date and has had its episode order cut from 22 to 15).

Elisha Cuthbert was flat out the best part of this episode.

Had me ROLLING.

This is my favorite show on TV right now. I've seen every episode at least five times and it never gets old. I can't go a week without it :P

This week's episode is called "The Shrink, the Dare, Her Date and Her Brother." I'm intrigued.

I don't know. I kind of like the idea. It's not like it would last, so a romance with them going on for a while would be fine.

Great episode tonight though. Great to have this show back again.

So funny last night. Loved Brad and Alex bonding over romcoms, as well as the fact the show gave them a subplot in the first place (I always loved the very rare occasions on Friends when Chandler and Rachel had storylines together, and this felt sort of similar).

Jane and Max. The outfits...so ridiculous. "Come back here, you...gay!"

I don't even mind the show planting the seeds of a possible Dave/Penny hookup even if it came out of left field a little bit.

Catching up on Season 2.

You know, I really don't get awards shows sometimes. Okay, the Emmys had to judge the show based on the uneven first season. Golden Globes? No excuses. And the Emmys will surely ignore the show again next year.

Same goes for the ratings. I don't get how this isn't catching on at all. It's not limited in audience potential like Community, Parks & Rec or Arrested Development. It's still, basically, Friends Evolved.

I wouldn't say it's not catching on at all. The ratings are, like, more than double what they were in its first season, so a huge amount of people discovered the show in season 2. It has gone from pulling demos no higher than 1.5 or so to over 3.

It's just slammed as getting poor ratings by the so-called "retentionistas" because it can't hold on to Modern Family's audience. Taken alone, the ratings are quite good.

Also, I'm sure ABC is happy that both Happy Endings and Revenge are getting a lot of media buzz and coverage this season, even if neither of them are huge hits by definition.

Yeah, the retention bothers me though. It was nice that week when everything else was in reruns and both Happy Endings and Revenge did quite well. I think even Modern Family was a repeat.

Yeah, "Happy Endings" had a series high in the ratings without the "Modern Family" lead-in that week.

Retentionistas are the laughingstocks of the TV ratings world. ABC will happily renew Happy Endings with a 3.x rating.

I hope so. The show is too damn good to be canceled.

Post subject:  Re: HAPPY ENDINGS

Yeah. They aren't going to cancel it. Certainly not yet. It will get a Season 3. They love the show and buzz is building. Has been featured prominently in Entertainment Weekly this year. They have to just give it time to find an audience, and it is finding one.

The wonderfully random moments in last night's episode

-Alex's racist/homophobic parrot (Brad's reactions to it were the best)
-Ed Begley, Jr.
-The Wire: "Saying 'just like on Blue Bloods' doesn't have the same pop"
-Judy Moody: "I thought we weren't going to tell anyone we saw that movie during our not bummer summer"
-Penny's hair: "Like John C. Reilly after a kickball game"
