Post subject: | ER series finale airs tonight (April 2) |
TV Guide wrote: The on-screen reunion that many felt needed to happen before ER could properly end its 15-year-run will come to fruition after all. Though neither NBC nor Warner Bros. have yet to officially confirm the news, sources tell TVGuide.com that both George Clooney and Julianna Margulies  aka one of the medical drama's premiere on-screen couples, Dr. Doug Ross and Carol Hathaway  will resurface in one episode before County General shutters its doors on April 2. Both actors are reportedly filming their scenes this week, on a closed set. Clooney last checked into ER in May 2000, making an unbilled, end-of-episode appearance so as to properly usher off Margulies' nurse Hathaway. The secretly filmed scene had Carol approaching a dock, where Doug waited for her, smiling yet silent. Just last week at the TCA Winter Press Tour, TVGuide.com asked NBC entertainment president Angela Bromstad if the extension of ER's final run by three episodes might afford John Wells additional time to talk Clooney into an encore. Her response: "Ask John Wells." Days later, the ER boss actually dismissed the idea, saying that Clooney  whose film career has soared over the past decade  is "too busy." Indeed, Clooney's publicist as recently as September pulled a Debbie Downer by deflating talk of the movie star's possible drop-by, saying, "It is something he has already done." Weeks later, Margulies herself scoffed at the idea of returning during ER's final season, explaining, "I left Carol Hathaway in the best scenario possible. I can't imagine making it any better." Already this season, Anthony Edwards reprised his role as Mark Greene (appearing in a "new" flashback with Laura Innes, aka Weaver); Alex Kingston put in an appearance as Mark's widow, Elizabeth, on Jan. 15; and Noah Wyle is due back as Carter for the final four episodes (though that could change in light of the extended order). http://www.tvguide.com/News/ER-Clooney- ... 02020.aspx Awesome! I guess it's time to watch my first episode of this show since like 2004. |

I am a huge er fan (still waiting for Seasons 10-11 on DVD, since the show went downhill since Noah Wyle left, i think it laid the groundwork for a lot of drama series today. However, i do not like how they brining back some of the old characters. Anthony Edwards, Clooney and Margulies had fitting ending to their stories and I feel brining them back will just ruin the name of Er even more. |

They both should've appeared on this show when Dr. Mark Greene died of a brain tumor years ago considering their characters were best friends.. |

I just read on TV Guide that Susan Sarandon filmed scenes with Clooney last week, so she'll be guest-starring in the same episode. |

Gilmore Girls' Alexis Bledel is also in the finale. |

Also appearing in the finals episodes are Eriq La Salle (Benton), Sherry Stringfield (Susan), Laura Innes (Weaver), Thandie Newton, and Maura Tierney (Abbey). I think they've gotten every major actor back (Besides maybe Ming Na). |

Supposedly, Eriq La Salle, Margulies and Clooney all appear on tomorrow's episode. That'll be my first time watching ER since maybe 2005. Wow. |

Mr. Inc wrote: I haven't seen Clooney in the advertisements. Hmm.. I might watch just cuz'. He's only *rumored* to be in tomorrow's episode (he's definitely appearing at some point). They might be trying to keep it a surprise, a la his guest appearance in 2000 which they didn't promote (Julianna Margulies' last episode). Then again, that was when ER was getting like 30+ million viewers per episode, so it seems stupid not to promote it now when the show barely pulls in 8 million regularly. |

I might tune in. I think I've said it here before - my last episode was when Lucy Knight was killed. |

One of my best professional actings jobs was on ER during season 1 in a scene with Clooney. I'll probably tune in for closure. |

Gosh. I was just watching some opening credits and it's just funny that there are only 6 cast members left (no originals, no one from seasons 1-9 in fact) and the de facto veteran billing slot goes to Parminder Nagra and Linda Cardellini - from Season 10. |

Good episode. I like all the guest stars, obviously the return's from Noah and George and the rest of the cast were great. I never really got into ER but my parents have watched it since it started. I might give the series ago once it's done. |

Yea it was a pretty good episode. I kinda wish George Clooney and Juliana Margulies would have made it to chicago somehow. Still a great sendoff and classy of them to return to the show that made them. |

First episode I've seen since roughly around the time Noah Wyle left the show as a series regular (circa early 2005). The episode made me super nostalgic for the days I watched ER religiously every Thursday at 10. George Clooney! Julianna Margulies! Still as awesome/adorable together as Doug and Carol as they always were. The realization that their twin daughters are like 10 years old now makes me feel old, because the episode where Carol went into labor doesn't feel that long ago. Susan Sarandon's brief performance was excellent, as well. Noah Wyle! Eriq La Salle! Carter and Benton always had a great friendship (who doesn't remember Benton sitting on the plane with Carter, ensuring he was staying clean?). A part of me went "noooo!" when Carol said the kidney went to "some doctor" at the end. I wanted them to know it was Carter! Oh well. I may or may not tune into the following two weeks (past favorite characters like Weaver, Abby and Susan Lewis still are up for the return) but I will definitely watch the series finale. |

From one former die hard ER fan that stopped watching at the same time (at the end of Season 11), to another, I agree completly. I just hope that they give Anthony Edwards the regonition he deserves in the final episdoes, since the series really revolved around him and Carter, not Doug Ross. |

Anthony Edwards came back for a "flashback" episode earlier this season. They recreated scenes where Angella Basset's son comes into the ER year back and Mark is the doctor who works on him. Weaver and the bald doctor who got his hand chopped off make appearances as well. |

I know, I saw the episode, but I am just saying that Goose was such the epicenter of the show for 8 years and deserves more than just a flashback episode, espically when they are giving the more contemporary characters more than just one returning episode. |

Well, ER will finally come to an end tonight after nearly 15 years on the air. A one-hour retrospective airs at 8, followed by the actual 2-hour finale from 9-11 on NBC. Even though I haven't been a regular viewer in over four years, I will absolutely be tuning in. ER was a revolutionary drama that was near and dear to my heart for a long time. |

Eriq La Salle, Noah Wyle, Laura Innes, Alex Kingston, Sherry Stringfield, Maura Tierney are all absolutely confirmed among ER alumni, though. |

Remember hearing that they even wanted Clooney more in that episode but they commented > his schedule is very busy. So I would be surprised if he appeared. Unless he taped it in secertly for a big surprise, which would be great. |

Alittle note on the greatness of ER >>> ER picked up more Emmy nominations - 122 - than any other drama in American TV history. At its peak, it was watched in 195 countries, and subtitled in 22 languages. |

How else can he return? He's dead. Of course, he'll only show up in flashback scenes. Unless you meant you wanted him to appear in more flashback episodes. |
