I've only read about the Newhart finale, but even through that I can recognize its brilliance.

Seinfield is probably the worst for me. So disappointing.

Friends, Cheers, Will and Grace, Just Shoot Me are all middle of the road. Not bad, not good, just expected.

It was boring. Practically unwatchable for me.

Forgot to mention Buffy by the way, that's probably my favorite overall actually, I loved it. A rare series finale I'd rank as among the series' best episodes.

That entire last season of Roseanne was horrible, there's no way the series finale would have been any better.

Raymond's was also terrible. It was pretty much a regular episode that they decided would be the last one, there wasn't anything in it that seemed like "the end" of anything at all. And even as a regular episode, it sucked. But then again, I always hated that show.

Best ever is Arrested Development, no contest.

I have to agree with Roseanne being the worst. It's like they decided to destroy any hope of it being a perfect series, and then tried to erase that the whole 9th season ever happened.

I've heard Roseanne's finale tried to erase everything after season 2?

In some ways. It did have Darlene and Becky trade spouses, but the stuff that it really erased was winning the lotto and Dan surviving his heart attack.

From Wikipedia (highlight): The final episode ended on an unusual note, with a 15-minute closing monologue by Roseanne revealing that after she was given a writing room (referencing a story thread from a few seasons beforehand), the entire series was merely a fictional story written by the character of Roseanne Conner and based on her family life and experiences. She also revealed that whatever she hadn't liked about her real life, she'd changed in the story; for instance, it was her sister Jackie - not her mother - that had come out as a lesbian. Dan's 'leaving' for another woman was also used to symbolize the pain Roseanne had felt when following his massive heart attack at the end of season eight, Dan had died, with her way of dealing with it meant rationalizing it as though Dan had merely left her for another woman.

Becky and Darlene actually ended up with the opposite Healy brother (Becky with David and Darlene with Mark).

The surrealism of season nine was explained as the "real" Roseanne Conner's way of dealing with the tragedy of Dan dying, which she snapped out of as a result of Darlene giving birth. The Conners' living room then returns to the way it was for the first eight seasons of the show, and Roseanne embarks on a career as a writer.

Yeah, really, REALLY messed up.

Glad I didn't follow it. Nearly as bad as St. Elsewhere's finale.

Just like you had done for every single episode of its final season, right?

Jim Varney as a prince? What the shit??

Rosanne defeating terrorists on a train? What the shit???

So I just read that Rosanne finale thing, wtf..that's MESSED. I was never a big fan of the show but wow..

Friends was good, they brought back everything that made the show famous, the babies, Ross and Rachel if yo have watched the whole series you'll notice it more. Raymond's was pretty bad in a sense of it didn't feel ilke it was a finale.

I actually think Raymond's finale was one of the most fitting I've ever seen.

I think the concept and idea for the Will and Grace finale was quite good a bit ambitious. The execution didn't reflect that though. but I still loved it.

The Friends finale was alright. I personally thought it was one of the show's weaker and not stronger episodes.

The Six Feet Under finale didn't really feel like a "finale" episode and the quality wasn't as amazing as a few of the other last season episodes. But the last 10 minutes just takes that episode and the show itself somewhere else.

Alias was great but they crammed but it could have been better.

I personally don't think the Lost finale is going to be this big reveal-al, over the top amazing episode because there's is just too much that the show will have to tie up that it will be spread over the last batch of episodes and not just the last hour or two.

The best of all time is easily Six Feet Under, followed by Friends, Dawson's Creek and Arrested Development.

I am one of the few who was disappointed in the Buffy finale. It's one of my favorite shows ever, but I didn't feel that the last episode was as powerful as some of the ones that had aired before in the series.
