I saw this coming the moment it started beating Lost. :sigh:

How much do you wanna bet it's a star-studded two-parter where ONE OF THE TEAM MEMBERS' LIFE IS IN JEOPARDY?

Not just hot women shower scenes, but hot women shower scenes where they're TORTURED AND KILLED IN SOME INTELLECTUAL FASHION! It's Psycho times THREE!

Ew, now I KNOW they're going to do that.

I don't despise it particularly, just the CBS crime show model that has populated TV.

I've seen two episodes of the show, and while it was semi-interesting, it gives off a big whiff of (And I rarely use this word) pretentiousness. The characters describe what makes the killer tick like they're giving a Psychology 101 lecture, but surrounded by a murder/kidnapping/rape mystery! And I'm sure the producers think they're above all other crime shows because they're SO INTELLIGENT. Those kind of things tik me off, like how everyone acted as though Desperate Housewives was American Beauty: The Series.

Okay, I hate the show. Sue me.

Never watched it, so I don't have anything against it.

I do have something against CBS's decision to go with it, though. They have a few better options, and they went with the show that automatically gets an audience, because it's a crime drama.

Lame. They should've given it to a show that needs more help, like How I Met Your Mother.

Oh well.

I'm a fan of the show so I'll definitely watch. It's like a hunt-for-the-serial-killer movie every week.

I'm not sure a show like HIMYM would really work though since it has continuing storylines that people just watching the show for the first time would find off-putting. Criminal Minds is self-contained.

Should have gave it to CSI Miami. Horatio would have been so proud although you cannot tell from him since he never smiles but his sunglasses tells a different story

Okay, I guess they didn't have time to get stars, but that was still too easy.

Anyway, any guesses on how it does? I'm guessing 26M (30M is certainly possible), 19M for the second part, and 16M from here on out.

I want to know why someone is gonna say "Ooh, I know! I'll wash down the rush and excitement and happiness of the Super Bowl by watching a grim, morbid, utterly soulless procedural drama!"

Like, seriously. Why would someone want to watch something like Criminal Minds after the Super Bowl? To me, that's like watching Seven following a parade or something.

A parade and Seven sounds like a reasonable afternoon to me.

Although, I do question the decision myself. If you're going with a procedural, why not a CSI? I know they're all hits, but so is Criminal Minds. It doesn't exactly need the audience. So go with something you know will get an audience. Or, they could have went with one of their sitcoms.

I'd say Criminal Minds has a lot more room to grow than a CSI, to be honest. Even though I hate the idea of this show getting the boost, it's probably a smart decision by them, I can't blame it.

Well, if we're talking about shows that could grow, why not something else? Criminal Minds is a proven hit already. The sitcoms were an obvious choice. Or what about The Amazing Race: All-Stars? Talk about an average-rated show with potential to be big.

You know every time im ready to defend the US viewing audience from sweeping generalizations that they are idiots and will watch this formulaic crap even though it would be a total insult to their intelligence to do so, I remember back to the time when that fantastically perfect post-superbowl episode of Alias got the lowest post superbowl ratings ever, despite Jennifer Garner opening in her underwear. So no America, I'm not going to defend you from accusations of stupidity. PROVE US WRONG BY NOT WATCHING THIS SHIT.

I'm going to go with over 30mil. The Superbowl should be close to 100mil, so just from the people who don't bother to turn off their TVs for the first five minutes, it should get a 30mil average. Second part might be around 16-17, but it will go back down to 14 or so after that. It is, after all, still up against Idol.

Hm, that logic really doesn't work, as the post-game usually gets about 55M viewers, losing most of the casual watchers that watch it because everyone else is.

Oh, there's a post-game? I don't watch football, and wait for the funny commericals to show up online, so I wouldn't know. I figured the episode would start right after the game.

NBC last had it in 98. After that, there was a new TV contract with the NFL that had the Superbowl rotate between Fox, CBS and ABC. This year starts a new contract, and NBC is replacing ABC. They get it in 09.
