Post Help. I'm blanking out.
What other shows aside from Dancing with the Stars and American Idol (preferrably high profile shows) gives people the last say or the vote for the winner?

And alos very important... where can I find stats on like the top 10 shows of the pas few seasons.

I'm particularly looking for numbers on American Idol... how it's grown from it's premiere and how it's ranked against other shows of the past few seasons.

Much appreciated :)

I don't watch any of these shows, but I think the kids version of Idol let you vote. But that wasn't around very long, was it? And does So You Think You Can Dance let you vote?

I'm sure there are easier places to get info on final season averages, but I usually just go here. They post all the final numbers on Tuesdays usually (if not Tuesday, check Wednesday). If you go back to May of the past few years you should be able to find the top shows on the season averages press release.

I can't find season averages from that site. It seems to be only abc-based. And you'd think there would be an easier place to find season averages but I can't seem to find any and it's driving me nuts. I'm giving a speech tomorrow and need some stats.

Thanks, I had overlooked that in the wikipedia AI entry and just found it minutes before you posted it. I can't believe there's nothing else I can find anywhere near as comprehensive as that.

The last thing I'm trying to track down is the top 10/20 rated programs (season averages) of 2004-2005 season.

For future reference....

Top 10 2004-2005 season

1. American Idol (27.3 million)
2. CSI (26.6m)
3. American Idol (26.1m)
4. Desperate Housewives (23.7m)
5. Survivor (20.9m)
6. Survivor (19.6m)
7. CSI Miami (19m)
8. Without a Trace (18.68m)
9. Grey' Anatomy (18.5m)
10. Everybody Loves Raymond (17.4m)

Top 10 2005-2006

1. American Idol (31.2m)
2. American Idol (30.2m)
3. SCI (25.2m)
4. Housewives (22.2m)
5. Grey's Anatomy (19.9m)
6. Without a Trace (18.7m)
7. Dancing with the Stars (18.6m)
8. Survivor (18.3m)
9. CSI Miami (18.1m)
10. House (17.3m)

Wikipedia had all that information but I had to go to each shows' own page to get it and compile it together. They even had the rank and everything for that season yet I couldn't (for the life of me) find a simple wikipedia page with the seasonal top 10/20 ranked. It took me almost 2 hours to find all the ratings stats I needed and they all ended up coming from Wikipedia.

Funnily enough - Ive been looking for similar ratings numbers for the last 10 years and never managed to find much. You do find pieces of the puzzle - but its incredible how unaccessable TV ratings data is compared to Box Office.

If you go to the first Tuesday or Wednesday in June of 05 and 06 (and probably 04, too, but it might not go back that far), there's a link to season rankings. That's for all shows, not just ABC.

I know. Tell me about it. Weird thing is when the time is now, the ratings and stats are released. They just seem to disappear after a while and come very hard to find. The thing that kills me is I knwo it's there somewhere. If it was there once, it's still out there.

It's possible that it's not. Nielsen has very strict rules about keeping this sort of thing. I'm surprised they don't make abcmedianet.com take it down. thefutoncritic.com got into big trouble a while back for keeping lists of past ratings. That's why they have to take down the ratings every week.
