Anyone watching the You're The One That I Want thing?
I keep seeing these adds in the theatres for a reality tv casting of Broadway Grease that looks kinda funny (the promo, that is). I'm wondering if the actual show is going to be equally entertaining?
Is anyone going to be watching it that could archive commentary and post it here? I'd love to read about it.

I, for one and for instance, am going to watch it tonight. Absolutely. Sounds like a major folly.

So it is literally- LITERALLY- American Idol, with some dancing and a different prize. Shameful. City-to-city auditions. Piss poor auditions met with witty rejoinders. Billy Bush mugged and took us on a tour of Chicago. Narrowed down the contests with a table full of Polaroids. The quick-with-a-quip British host told contestants they were rejected with a desperate, painful "You're NOT the one that we want." I'm still shivering.
I'm not sure what's going to happen when this thing stalls at the ratings gate. And it will. It's so transparent, and, frankly, poorly produced. Everything can be forgiven if it's juicy fun, but it's about as engrossing as a bowl of Cheerios. Grease is a shitty stage musical to begin with. The movie is miles better.
