Which episode of The Office was The Coup? |

The one where they played Call of Duty in Stamford and in Scranton Angela encouraged Dwight to try to get Jan to replace Michael with him. You may remember it as the one where near the end Michael was almost acting like a Mafia Don for a minute. It was a good idea but not one of my favorite episodes, didn't really work, I was surprised that was nominated. |

Yeah, The Coup was a little unhilarious. SNL over The Colbert Report? |

Some big problems. -30 Rock, while good, is not the most well-written comedy on TV and is not even one of the top five. The show tries too hard to be quirky in an Arrested Development sort of way, and it doesn't work. Much of the show's success in quality relies on the cast (namely Alec Baldwin and Jane Krakowski, the former getting the most attention from critics). -No The Colbert Report for Variety, but SNL is in? Again, another case where the people on-screen have been far more talented than those off-screen in the writing room. While the writing has improved, it's unforgivable to ignore The Colbert Report, which may rely heavily on host Stephen Colbert, but also has fresh writing for 160 some-odd shows a year. SNL is lucky to have one well-written sketch per episode, in a 20 episode season. -No Veronica Mars. But, it's the hip thing for critics to adore it, but awards to ignore it. I probably got more, but I'll refrain. I'm saving up for the inevitably infuriating Globe noms tomorrow morn. |

AgentX wrote: Yeah, The Coup was a little unhilarious. SNL over The Colbert Report? Glad I wasn't the only one to mention "SNL over Colbert". Just plain wrong. I'm watching a few of the most recent episodes now, and I've mostly had a smile on my face the whole time. I could understand someone saying that most of the show's success is Stephen Colbert, but the writing is just as good as The Daily Show at least, and way better than SNL (can't speak for the other shows, as I don't watch them regularily). |

The Call of Duty stuff was great, but the Dwight stuff didn't work. I think there were much better episodes from this season they could've gone with. At least Colbert getting snubbed will give him some great material. |

30 Rock reminds me of AD, in a bad way. I just don't think that 30 Rock is capturing the quirky comedy of AD. In fact, when they go that extra mile (it always seems painfully forced) to do something quirky like AD, it falls flat on its face. It has potential, but 30 Rock is not my current favorite comedy. Not even top three. |

I've been meaning to watch 30 Rock more often. It may not be the funniest show out there, but Alec Baldwin delivers. |

Four writing nominations for The Simpsons. ![]() Well it helps when 80% of its writing staff (past and present) are WGA members. ![]() |
