Why did Grey's go down? Man, we're close to the highest rated show on TV being below 20 million. That's kinda sad.

And not for Grey's, I mean for TV itself.

Ouch for THE OC :( Hopefully this will be a wakeup call for FOX and they will move it to a new timeslot ASAP!

Donnie Darko

Six Degrees is as good as gone. Going from 21 to 8 million viewers makes this show a huge loser, no matter how good it is. Ugly Betty is closing the gap on Surviver, little by little. If I'm not mistaken, it rose a little from the previous week, when there were repeats on... That's pretty good.

CW beat FOX. Go CW, go CW - I wish CW would beat FOX on each day of the week. And I'm hoping Supernatural rises a bit in the ratings...

Christian

:lol @ the O.C.

Christian

"Mischa Barton is sorely missed." Huh?

WTF is Berman smoking?

jujubee

Fox really needs to do something about their entire lineup. The OC isn't going to improve much by moving it to 8. And I still don't understand putting Standoff at 8. But the way to fix this problem is to move The OC to Wednesday at 9. Bones is as close as Fox will get to a lead-in, since they're idiots. And then, they need to move AI to a Wednesday-Thursday schedule. Leave House as it is and it will continue to get very decent ratings, though not monster ratings. And then Fox will have three days a week that perform. Because at this point, CW will be beating them on Thursdays and Fridays, guaranteed, and if Bones were to slip a bit, Top Model go up a bit, and Rich List to tank even worse, CW has Wednesdays, too.

Mood-Swing Jon

I seriously expect ABC to announce the pulling of SD any time today. Now, what do they replace it with?

And The OC. . .wow. How awesome would it be if Supernatural actually beat it next week?

Raffiki

Hmmm... these numbers are a bit off from regular Thursdays.

Grey's is down by a million or two and CSI dropped accordingly. For some reason Deal or No Deal took about 3 million of their viewers. any special reason why? Unsure

Ugly Betty's increase is impressive considering this is Anatomy's lowest rated fresh episode of the season. It has definitely brought Survivor down a notch.

The ads were saying the contestant could go home with the most money ever. Hence, a spike. All three shows should be back to normal next week.

Actually, the show is supposedly good again, according to critics. Weird.

But last week Fox had, what, 14mil? 15?

Well, CSI and Grey's were repeats last week, so. . .

What'll also be interesting about next week is that CSI is a sequel to its biggest episode this season, so it has a shot at beating Grey's.

jujubee

Well, even the week before, Fox still had far more than 3.38 mil. I don't think The OC can be used as a reason anything was down. If anything, it would be a reason things were up. (Particularly that male demo Supernatural is supposed to be so good at securing, yet it was down this week.)

Still kinda sucks considering it was averaging over 25 million per new episode just four years ago.

ER stats:

Season Season Premiere Season Finale TV Season Viewer Rank (#) Viewers (in millions)
1st September 19, 1994 May 18, 1995 1994-1995 2[2] 28.9[3]
2nd September 21, 1995 May 16, 1996 1995-1996 1[2] 32.0[3]
3rd September 26, 1996 May 15, 1997 1996-1997 1[2] 30.8[3]
4th September 25, 1997 May 14, 1998 1997-1998 2[2] 30.2[3]
5th September 24, 1998 May 20, 1999 1998-1999 1[4] 25.4[4]
6th September 30, 1999 May 18, 2000 1999-2000 4[2] 25.0[5]
7th October 12, 2000 May 17, 2001 2000-2001 2[6] 22.4[6]
8th September 27, 2001 May 16, 2002 2001-2002 3[7] 22.1[7]
9th September 26, 2002 May 15, 2003 2002-2003 7[8] 20.0[8]
10th September 25, 2003 May 13, 2004 2003-2004 8[9] 19.5[9]
11th September 23, 2004 May 19, 2005 2004-2005 16[10] 15.5[11]
12th September 22, 2005 May 18, 2006 2005-2006 30[12] 12.3[12]

It was averaging 20 m up until May 2003, but there are definitely some other dominating doctor shows now (Grey's Anatomy, House).

For this season so far, from 6 new episodes, ER has averaged 14.36 million viewers (+16.7% from last season), and it seems like people are responding well to the current cast, so I could see going up over the season. Also, there's only a 25.5% difference between the avg total viewers for the #1 show (GA), and the #10 show (Lost). So ER while its ratings are lower than it has been, is holding its own, in what would otherwise be a much more high rating market. CSI for example, has lost 17% of its avg seasonal audience from just two years ago.

There are quite ALOT of shows, though, that are above 13 million which is the season average of the highest rated network so far.

the fragmenting effect of cable and the internet is certainly becoming more visible every day.
When will teleivision ratings become redundant, only to be replaced by purchased episodes?

From one deathpit to another. The most similar show you could pick on the schedule, except with a 10x more dedicated fanbase, and with a whole load of upswing momentum that OC just doesn't have. Right now like a third of OC's audience are OTH fans just supporting their soap roots, lol. It's going to get spanked.

Reallll smart Fox. :hahaha:

Wait, did I miss something?

Fox already moved it?

Can't say I'm shocked, they're stupid to put it on the same time as Grey's Anatomy, which literally has the exact same audience, except about 20 million more viewers.

Honestly, the new spot is worse. Somebody at Fox forgot to take notice that both Lost and OTH are in the top 10 of 12-17 and 12-24 shows, and both are established and on Wednesdays at 9. That demo area is also what The OC targets... so yeah, they picked essentially the deathslot. On Thursdays it was bad, but mostly just Grey's, as CSI was the exact opposite audience with mostly seniors. Now they have twice as much direct competition, with the new night confusion to boot.
