ABC barely edged out CBS wednesday night thanks mainly to 9's low ratings

Jericho is turning into a small hit. Should definitely get a second season. It's not even a great show, I am not sure why I'm watching it...it's just that the whole premise itself is interesting and I simply want to know what's behind the whole thing.

Criminal Minds' ascent from year to year is probably the most impressive change for any show on any network this season.

Same.

CBS has so many hits, and no one talks about them. Criminal Minds, NCIS, The Unit, Close to Home, Cold Case. The CSIs aren't even talked about all that much. Not as much as shows like Desperate Housewives, Lost, Grey's Anatomy.

But they mumble to each other about the show at the nursing homes or at least ramble on about the old days
Criminal Minds has been doing great so long live Patinkin!

The thing is, CBS had 13 out of 30 of the top shows in the adults 18-49 demo. So they aren't skewing THAT old. It probably has more to do with the fact that the majority of America wants to watch shows that they don't have to talk about. They want something that entertains, and doesn't make them think. Though why anyone would want to talk about Grey's, I don't know.

I wonder if NBC will give 30 Rock and Twenty Good Years until a couple of weeks after the MLB playoffs to see if that has any effect on it's ratings. Right now, that just flat out sucks, although both shows haven't shown signs that it deserves better. 30 Rock had a shit opener and followed with a decent episode, and Twenty Good Years did the exact opposite.

"doesn't make them think." I think that goes for the "talk a lot about" shows as well, except maybe Lost, but I stopped thinking while watching that a long time ago.

How long before CBS spinoffs Criminal Minds into a CSI-like franchise? It is a far better show than CSI itself so there's possibilities.

Isn't that pretty bad for OTH? It's a bit lower than VM's numbers anyway

Yes it isn't very good, if you take into account the lead-in.

I don't know if I fault it though, the show at this point basically lives and dies by it's fanbase... It's still the exact same people who were watching last year, I don't think ANTM could add any new viewers from the beginning. CW is mostly in bad shape everywhere though, so I can still see Season 5 on the horizon with another round of campaigning.

Season 5 as in next season? Shouldn't you be worried about a full season 4 first?

Actually I think a full season was ordered from the beginning. If it wasn't, it'll get one anyways. It's ratings are higher than last year's(the show and the slot), it's no longer the most disappointing anchor of the season, the CW is worse than what the WB was previously, and after what the fans did earlier this year at crunchtime, I don't think they'd blindside it like that. They didn't really come close to pulling it midway last year, I don't see why they would here.

It definitely only has a 13 epi order. VM, OTH and Supernatural are all still waiting for the back-9 order. I'd say more, but I don't want to discourage you. I just think you should be thinking a bit smaller at this point. For VM, all anyone in the fandom cares about is the back-9. I think we'd all be satisfied with getting a complete third season, and Rob being given enough warning to finish the series off right (which I think he would get, or he'd at least know when he's at death's door -- and he respects the audience enough not to put a major cliffhanger in when there's absolutely no guarantee of another season).

I'm scared for Jericho. I was pondering the other day on all the shows that I have liked, and realized that a large percentage of them are shows that ended up cancelled before their time... Quantum Leap (NBC), Enterprise (UPN), Christy (CBS), Twice in a Lifetime (PAX), and more. I'm always afraid to get into a show nowadays for fear that it'll get cancelled when I least expect it.

I'm so happy that Jericho's doing so good in the ratings, though! I know it's a bit saccharine, but seeing as how I was/am a fan of CBS's "saccharine" hits Touched By An Angel, Christy, and Promised Land, it's no wonder I've not stopped watching Jericho.... I LIKE it!
