Post subject:  Your best and worst shows on television rankings: 2006-2007

I felt like writing down my fav and least fav shows on the main networks right now, and then as the season goes by, the ratings will change.

Top shows so far this season:

October 2006:

1) Lost
2) Grey's Anatomy
3) The Office
4) CSI
5) Deal Or No Deal (Surprising, but this show is oddly very interesting to watch)

Worst shows for me so far this season:

1) Ghost Whisperer (Worst show last season for me as well...)
2) CSI Miami
3) AFV

Shows that I keep saying I'll catch, but haven't had time to yet:

House
Prison Break

I won't list all the shows I watch, just the top ten. Because certain shows (Family Guy, Desperate Housewives, Survivor) I watch, but I don't necessarily love.

Best (in order)
Veronica Mars
Lost
Heroes
The Colbert Report
The Office
Dexter
Weeds
Prison Break
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip
House

Worst
Close to Home
Til Death
Shark (I love James Woods, but this show is boring, and when it's not boring, it's a House ripoff with lawyers)

Others I watch: Ugly Betty; Desperate Housewives; CSI; The Amazing Race; Family Guy; American Dad; Jericho; Survivor; Saturday Night Live; Standoff

Doing great:
Heroes - I am not sure how long they can keep it going but it is working great.
How I Met Your Mother - Always had a great cast and they finally are making it work right.

I love them but a shaky start so far:
The Office - a couple of episodes have been too over the top. And with Michael Scott singing a Diwali song this week, it isn't going to come down to earth soon.
House - they need to stop being coy about House and Cuddy and just get on with it. Less medical jargon please.

Not so much:
Jericho -- how did they manage to turn an exciting topic like that into a deeply boring, slow paced relationship drama? Please kill off that mayor/patriarch and get back to finding people tied up in trunks and other exciting stuff.
Studio 60 -- not pretentious enough, they need more quoting Shakespeare talk of Pericles and insulting their audience in middle America. How come the president of the network has so much time and energy to devote to one show on her schedule? It's watchable for Stephen Weber's character.
Battlestar Galactica -- Cheap looking soap with some good effects. Having some of the cylons look like humans is a cop out, I want to see robots dammit. I'd rather they were attacked by something looking like a vacuum cleaner than a Random Blonde Starlet. What is Crockett's boss doing in space?

I want to like but it's not happening yet:
30 Rock - mainly the problem is the supporting cast other than Alec Baldwin is very weak. This is a good show to watch for those who miss the vanilla humor of recent seasons of SNL.

Improved:
SNL - much improved once Tina was no longer head writer and the cast shrunk.

Eveready battery award:
Colbert Report -- just keeps going, always good even if I am not in the mood for it every night.

I am thinking the same as Archie on Heroes and Jericho.

On How I Met Your Mother, there is just something that bothers me in the back of my mind about Robin not being the mother or wife and them spending so much time on them being together. Also, I don't really know how I fell about Lily and Marshall being apart as it doubles their time on screen. I guess in general I like the show more in the whole than breaking up the parts because so many individual parts on the show bother me. Except Barney of course.

But not really. They say she's not the kids mother but that doesn't mean she doesn't become his wife. I mean for all we know she becomes his wife for a few years then they divorce or something else happens.

But she's still not the point of the show. I stopped watching after the first episode because of that. Just seemed stupid to me, and I didn't find the show funny, despite Barney. Though I've heard that's improved. But if it still has a laugh track, I physically cannot watch it.

How I Met Your Mother is awesome this season, people.

Like I loved it last season too, but it's managed to improve. Really underrated show.

The Best:

Battlestar Galactica - The first four eps were outstandingly good.
Heroes - I found the first episode a little dull, but it picked up quickly. The show Lost could've been if they'd sped the plot developments up a bit and lost the flashbacks.
How I Met Your Mother - I loved the first season despite the fact it only had one or two genuine laughs per episode. This year it's just as entertaining and lovely to watch, but with a much higher laugh ratio. Possibly my favourite sitcom on television at the moment.
Studio 60 - I'm not seeing the pretentiousness that others are. To me it's just a sharply written, entertaining character drama that's insanely compelling to watch.

On The Bubble:

The Office - This season's yet to have an episode as good as any from the last. The characters are becoming more and more like caricatures.
My Name Is Earl - It's still entertaining enough, I'm just not feeling it any more.

Stopped watching:

Jericho - great start, lost steam quickly.
