That's actually an improvement for Fox over their usual Wednesday performance. House does decent in reruns.

An 18% drop from last season's premiere in viewers (23.5M) would be about 19.3M. I guess the whole second season backlash crap is to blame, but it still goes to show those 15-17M viewership numbers last spring WERE because of Idol, haters.

And a 74% rendition from Lost would mean over 14M for The Nine. Not too bad.

NBC really needs help. And here I was thinking they were on their way out of their ratings hole.

Low numbers for Lost. Like I said last week, look for Criminal Minds to overtake Lost when American Idol premieres

The real success story is for VM fans. In the Final Tuesday numbers (printed after Wednesday's ratings in Berman's column), Gilmore Girls went down a bit while VM went up a bit. Here's comparisons:

Original numbers reported yesterday:
Gilmore Girls: 4.71
Veronica Mars: 3.27

Final numbers reported today:
Gilmore Girls: 4.62
Veronica Mars: 3.36

Solid premiere for Lost. Acceptable retention for The Nine.

Also, Criminal Minds beating Lost when Idol comes back? I highly doubt it.

NBC is just embarassing, Wednesdays might be their worst night of the entire week. This doesn't bode well for 30 Rock and 20 Good Years.

When do we get the millions of viewers number?

I've been getting a feeling lately this is Lost's last season.

It was the most-watched show (in viewers) last night, so I would say yes.

Off of about 17% from last year's season premiere so the numbers are solid but not really good news

Lost

2005 season premiere - 15.2/22
2006 season premiere - 12.3/18

That's kind of a steep drop, isn't it? :nope:

When Variety publishes the final numbers on Tuesday. Unless Berman decides to publish the final numbers tomorrow.

I feel like it is not Lost anymore. They should just rename it.

Based on what, the ratings? Or the writers?

If it's the latter, I doubt it. The writers can stretch this for as long as they want, as far as I'm concerned. If it's the former, then... well, I don't think the ratings will be a factor at all. Lost would have to drop to below 10 million viewers a week before that would even be considered. And I don't think it will, no matter what Idol does to it next year.

Yeah, the show makes a lot of money for ABC through iPod and DVDs (The second season was the top seller first week, period).

Anyway, I doubt it'll go past season 5. The creators have said many times before they don't see it going any farther than that.

Just on a hunch which I know could be wrong, that the ratings wll fade as the season goes on. But then I thought the same thing about DH and that has survived.

Well considering it dropped down to about that level or lower as season 2 progressed, I'd say that's a decent number.
