Post subject:  Weekly Network Ratings/Rankings

Since there is no thread for this, I thought it would be a great addition to the forum.
Every wednesday, the LA Times releases the weekly ratings for the previous week ending on Sunday. They have the top 100+/- shows and their viewers in million and then they have the weekly network rankings and the ratings they averaged, and then they have the average ratings for each network for this season to date....

Since we already post overnight's and the viewers for most show's, this thread will be for the networks' overall rankings....

Here are the previous week's...

Week of November 29 - December 5

Rank__Network____This Week*____Season to Date*(rank)

1_____CBS_________13.03________13.37 (1)
2_____ABC_________10.44________10.27 (3)
3_____NBC_________10.37________10.28 (2)
4_____FOX__________6.58_________9.36 (4)
5_____UPN__________3.58_________3.62 (6)
6_____WB__________3.50__________3.90 (5)

Basically if ABC wins another week over NBC and it looks likely with Desperate Housewives, considering there was no DH this week and Home Edition was significantly low!
UPN moved up above WB for the week, a bit out of the norm, but they do sometimes swap positions!

It is so refreshing to only see 3 reality shows on that list. (Though it would be better if there were none!)

Yep, being filmed now or by now perhaps even completed. They haven't announced an airdate for the premiere, but I'd imagine they would want to take advantage of Feb sweeps if it is ready. Perhaps they will announce the airdate during the finale this thursday, Go Seven of Jen!

NBC has the fewest hits this season, old or new shows, including none in the top 5, and still placing second. Huh odd.

I can't believe how much Desperate Housewives is helping ABC. All it takes is one hit to get your network back on the map! :)

Uh yaaaa.

Desperate Housewives did not do much on its own. What the use of having one show at #2 if all the others are not even in the top 25.

LOST and Home Edition have defintely helped it alot and as every year, Monday Night Football.

with the absense of Monday Night Football and a 2 month hiatus for LOST, it is actuall going to be a duel for 2nd place between ABC and NBC!

ABC should have already passed NBC on season to date averages without Desperate housewives tonight.... we'll have to see.

I guess for the first time in year, ABC is ahead of NBC in season to date average ratings! ABC is officially second place for the season so far!
And even though Desperate Housewives scored one of its lowest ratings (21.6 million) ABC still had a great week with a LOST high (18.9 million) and overall 4 shows in the top 10. CBS had 4 shows and NBC had 2.

CSI was first place with 29.8 million.

Sorry, I haven't kept this up for a while, but I will try to post every weekly results as they come in the LA TIMES...

For the past week, March 28-April 3, here are the ratings by network...

1. CBS: 13.43 million
2. ABC: 9.59 million
3. NBC: 9.28 million
4. FOX: 9.07 million
5. UPN: 3.40 million
6. WB: 2.65 million

Here are the ratings for the season-to-date (in millions)

1. CBS: 12.88
2. ABC: 10.28
3. NBC: 10.01
4. FOX: 9.99
5. UPN: 3.37
6. WB: 3.35

Even though Fox has juggernaut American Idol and even if it beats ABC some of the next few weeks, as long as abc continues what it's been getting (and it's new Housewives till the end and new LOST in a few weeks till the end) then it will only solidify it's position as #2 this year, a huge turn-around from the bottom of the dumpster last year.
But more suspenseful is the NBC/FOX race. FOX can now easily pass NBC which has no permanent show in the top 15 each week, while FOX has at least 3 with 17+ million viewers. But as everyone sees, FOX' lowpoints (and there are ALOT) really bring down those 20 million some Idol viewers to measly averages. I think FOX will in fact surpass NBC if only with its American Idol finale week, plus NBC really has nothing to bring it some big time ratings in May sweeps.

It looks like NBC is in more of a rut than anyone could have expected last year. With ER, a 12 year old program as their highest rated drama, it doesn't look good. No comedies above 10-11 million viewers (and the 10 million they get is at their very best) is really a downer. I think ABC is taking NBC's spot especially since at least one night of the week (Sunday) is becoming Must-See TV while another one (Wednesday) is on the rise if they can get ALIAS ratings a tad higher and find another blockbuster hit for Wednesdays (myabe moving Grey's Anatomy there might solidify it!)
