well no interest in the current comedies on tv..... some of my favorites include 2.5 Men, Met Mother ( for Barney first, Suit Up ), Arrested Development, Earl, Office, don't count housewives, etc. off the top of my head.

anyway, as for the original reason that I started this thread, when I was watching these back to back, I was curious which was better liked?
and so far, looks like the slapstick of Earl can't compete with the subtle genius of the Office

The only comedies I really enjoy on tv today are The Office, Scrubs, Entourage and Weeds. Anything with a laugh track I can't stomach anymore. I loved Arrested, but it's gone now. (And, I heard it wasn't even submitted for best comedy.)

The only sitcoms with a laugh track I'm even sporadically amused by now are Two and a Half Men, How I Met Your Mother and Old Christine.

This past season:
1. Arrested Development
2. Scrubs
3. The Office
4. Extras
5. Weeds
And The Daily Show, too, even though I haven't watched a lot of it this year. Same with Family Guy.

Scrubs, The Office, Earl and How I Met Your Mother are the only shows I'll go out of my way to watch these days. Although I'll watch 2 and a 1/2 Men if it's on.
Of the two in the poll, it started off I preferred Earl, but as the seasons went on, The Office gradually took over.

I'm a little disappointed we never swayed you into Arrested Development camp, Snrub.

Same here. I have never understood the appeal of Scrubs though, and I started avoiding 2 and a half men. HIMYM has a likeable cast that almost makes up for it not being all that funny. Arrested I saw parts of and could never get into, I just didn't like the cast.

Agreed on HIMYM. It's rarely laugh out loud hilarious (though I have guffawed once or twice in an episode), but it's just so damn warm and loveable.
As for Scrubs, it's appeal is simple:

(Did you see the episode where Bob had to return home to work on "Bob Loblaw's law blog"? Oh, chuckles, indeed.) Snrub wrote: As for Scrubs, it's appeal is simple:

Oh, man. I think you just turned everybody off who once held an interest in the show.

Friends and Seinfield reruns for me, mostly.
I enjoy HIMYM and Earl/The Office, though I don't make a habit of watching them.

all of the cast members were good / OK for a quick bit but, for me, a whole Seinfeld episode come together when it featured on good ole Georgie Boy.

All-Time 1. I Love Lucy > god they sure made alot of Lucy shows - anyway just like an old friend - turn it on and sit back and relax in a chair - very good show to pass time with 2. 3rd Rock from the Sun > never watched when on tv, only caught in syndication - really great first 5 seasons or so 3. Married...With Children > aah, the Sandy Koufax of tv shows - for the years 2 to 7 or so this show was great - hated at the end when they started to make Al the tired butt of all jokes - in the good early days - the loser was passed around and it always didn't end on Al. 4. The Simpsons > classic 5. Family Guy 6. Will & Grace 7. Friends > the good years was like Lucy above

Thanks!
As for All in the Family, it's decent, but just not one of my top 10. There are quite a few sitcoms that fall in that range for me.... Taxi, Cosby Show, Happy Days, Gilligan's Island, Family Guy, Sanford and Son, South Park, Bewitched, etc.... all good shows, but just not top 10 material in my book.
