The 100th episode of "CSI" drew an even bigger audience than usual Thursday as CBS occupied its customary top spot in the ratings.

For the night, CBS averaged a 14.7 rating/23 share, easily beating second-place NBC's 10.3/16. ABC was third at 5.1/8. FOX's 3.7/6 was just good enough to beat UPN's 3.6/5, while The WB trailed with a 1.7/3.

CBS also won the night among adults 18-49, posting an 8.6 rating in the key ad demographic. NBC finished second with a 7.3. There was a big drop to third-place FOX, 2.3, which was followed by ABC, 1.8; UPN, 1.7; and The WB 0.9.
"Survivor: Vanuatu," 12.1/19, gave CBS the lead at 8 p.m. The combination of "Joey," 8.0/13, and "Will & Grace," 8.1/12, put NBC in second. "The O.C.," 4.8/7, was third for FOX but down a little from its first two episodes of the season. ABC's "Extreme Makeover" was right behind in fourth. UPN got a 3.4/5 from the first half of "WWE Smackdown!," while The WB aired the movie "The Whole Nine Yards."

At 9 p.m., "CSI" (19.2/28) hit the 100-episode mark in style, topping 31 million viewers for the hour. "The Apprentice," 10.3/15, kept NBC in second. ABC moved up to third with a "Primetime" special (4.7/7) tied to the opening of the Clinton presidential library. "Smackdown!" improved by a couple of tenths to take fourth place. "North Shore" managed only a 2.6/4 on FOX, while The WB's movie finished up with a 1.8/3.

"Without a Trace," 12.8/21, managed to keep CBS in front but lost a sizable portion of its lead-in audience. NBC's "ER," 12.6/20, was a close second. ABC's regular edition of "Primetime Live" averaged 5.9/9.

Titled "Ch-Ch-Changes," the episode drew 31.46 million viewers, making it the most watched episode in the show's history. For the season, "CSI" has been averaging 29.18 million viewers. The episode also drew a sterling 11.6 rating among adults 18-49, tying for the show's best-ever demographic numbers.

The "CSI" hour became the television season's most watched primetime broadcast, beating FOX's telecast of the Game 7 of the American League Divisional Series between the Yankees and the Red Sox. Only that game, which capped Boston's improbably comeback on the road to a World Series title, delivered better 18-49 figures.

For the 9 p.m. ET hour, "CSI" helped CBS to an audience (31.46 million) that topped the combined results of NBC, ABC and FOX (26.01 million) by a staggering 21 percent.

Pretty darn impressive for CSI! :D
