How does that compare with previous Oscars?

does not seem as low as 2003's that's for sure.
Or am I totally off?

It's way above 03 I think. It could score from 38 - 40 million

Overnights.

Raffi, the 2003 Oscars got a 25.5/37.

From Variety:

Quote:
The top five highest-rated markets were New York (36.5/51), Chicago (33.2/47), San Francisco (31.7/51), Philadelphia (31.7/46) and Atlanta (30.7/43).

So... Los Angeles does not care (that much) anymore, lol.

Comparatively, that was a decline of 10 percent in rating and three share points from The Academy Awards telecast in 2005

Well, I think that's great. I was honestly expecting a number somewhere near 30 million.
I guess stewart and all that [s]jazz[/s] advertising on billboards of every other corner and street you turn in LA helped ;)

You say Berman is back!!!! like its a good thing

I'd say it more like "Oh god some things just wont go away, Like acne and Marc Berman"

Infact, the Oscar Ratings were the 2nd worst since 1987

38.8m viewers, down 8%

A more accurate statement would be "TV ratings at 11:00 EST are back! Which somewhat makes up for the fact that Berman comes back with them"

Considering how many people of those 38 million watching had actually seen more than 2 or 3 of the movies nominated in the top 8 categories, I'd say 38 million viewers is quite good. Very good.
