Best suggested line-up yet.

I wouldn't be surprised if either one of FX's Nip/Tuck or Rescue Me makes it in the Best Drama category.

I'm pretty sure Denis Leary will get some nod since he starred, produced, and wrote the show. He's bound to get at least 1 nod out of those 3. (Actually, I'm not too sure if he produced it)

I will be suprised too, if all 4 Housewives get in. I would actually think, they'd only go for 2 (Cross and Hatcher) but Huffman is a bigger name within the industry than many mainstream viewers realize and plus, it's a very, probably the most relatable character on the show.

I'm actually waiting for at least 1 (if not 2) supporting actress noms from Desperate Housewives. Harriet Harris is very deserving of her nod as well as Nicolette Sheriden (though the latter's chances may be shot because of the whole sports ad fiasco.... not saying there will be a consipracy against her, but she might just slip out because of a minor factor and that could be it).

I'm not waiting for them to nominate LOST for Drama, because I know it could easily be bounced out by various other shows, but I do have hope for it.

As for acting nods for LOST.... I don't think there will really be much. I think Terry O'Quinn deserves one and might be the best candidate to recieve one. It will be huge if the deserving YunJim Kim gets a supporting nod; both these actors' chances are greater than anyone else because they are clearly supporting and scene stealers as opposed to Fox, Lilly, Holloway who are supposedly lead actors but only get more screentime than others when their backstories are in focus.

One of my big hopefuls is Nip/Tuck which won at the Golden Globes for Best Drama, so I'm hoping that will draw at least some buzz toward its direction for the Emmys. Joely Richardson was amazing thsi past season and she really deserves a nod. The lead actors are a dead given in their deserving standings but long-shots for actual noms.

I have a suggestion for the Academy....
Since there are 3 TV mediums now (network, cable, and HBO (pay cable), contributing as much great TV and nods as one another, they should expand the nominees to 6 per category.

Was there no Curb your Enthusiasm this season?
Cuz I'd consider it a no-brainer for a nod with Sex and the City finished up.

Im actually disappointed that alot of these list aren't mentioning Patricia Arquette for Medium. It was basically NBC's only new hit, and her performance was terrific.

Maybe she'll get recognition next season..hopefully.

:D Thanks, DK! Every little bit helps, and hopefully a few more will nominate because of it!

I think the drama category will consist of 5 of the following 7 shows....

90-100% CSI: the #1 rated drama, with one hell of a finale
85-95% The Sopranos: I can't see how last year's winner could get snubbed for a nod
70-80% Deadwood: It's been getting great critical acclaim and is on everyone's lists
60-75% Rescue Me: It's new, it's fresh and it's freakin awesome!
45-55% 24: It may have been a 1-year thing but it may hang on to a nod for one more year.
40-50% LOST: I think it will have to duke it out with Rescue Me. It's new and very original, daring, and ambitious but hard to see 2 new shows in the mix.
40-50% The West Wing: It seems to get nominated (and almost win) every year so never count it out. But ratings ahve been slipping and some say it wasn't near its best season.

I don't think both 24 and West Wing will fall off the list and I don't think 2 new shows will eneter the list, but one of the two is bound to happen and I hope it's 2 new shows!

Also, don't count out....
Boston Legal
Nip/Tuck

I'm willing to bet Rescue Me will get in, just because it's more recent and people will remember it more than Nip/Tuck. That's just me, though. I also think Rescue Me is better, although Nip/Tuck is quite good. I really hope Leary gets nominated for Best Actor. Everyone is great on the show, but it all depends on him.

I wouldn't count out all four getting nominated, especially with the actress category not exactly as full as in recent memory.

Here is last year's Best Actress nominees:

"Sex and the City" (1998) - Sarah Jessica Parker; HBO
"Everybody Loves Raymond" (1996) - Patricia Heaton; CBS
"Friends" (1994) - Jennifer Aniston; NBC
"Life with Bonnie" (2002) - Bonnie Hunt; ABC
"Malcolm in the Middle" (2000) - Jane Kaczmarek; 20th Century Fox Television

Three of those five are history. I believe Sex and the City has ended before the deadline (seems time has flown, so I can't remember), Friends and Life With Bonnie are long gone. This leaves Kaczmarek and Heaton. To be honest, I don't expect Kaczmarek to be nominated this year, because even I, a TV addict and buff on the subject, keep forgetting the show is still on. This leaves the obvious fifth nominee in the category, Patricia Heaton, who is also gone next year. Obviously, new blood is possible, but I don't expect it, besides the Ladies of Wisteria Lane. We can all sit here and complain about the Emmys forgetting Lauren Graham in Gilmore Girls, but I doubt this year they're going to suddenly recognize her or the show. The only remaining wild card is Debra Messing, and she was snubbed last year for Bonnie Hunt! With the show showing its age every week, I would think the Emmys would choose fresh (Housewives) over stale (Will & Grace).

"Lost" is a tough one. I expect Emmy recognition, because it's so darn popular, but not a runaway monster hit with voters. I expect ten nods total, like Alias and 24 in their rookie years. Drama is 50/50, I think. Is Six Feet Under eligible? If not, I expect Lost to get the nomination. You have Nip/Tuck, 24, CSI, The West Wing, and I would guess the last spot is between Rescue Me and Lost, but I don't even see the other four shows as locks either. I would only bet on CSI, West Wing and 24 as locks, and the other three shows as the wild cards for the remaining two slots.

As for acting, I think the Emmys may choose someone else over Terry O'Quinn. Don't ask me why, because I feel he is one of the best actors on television, especially during his frequent guest-starring run on X-Files, Harsh Realm and Millennium, and then on Alias. But, he is, more or less, "that guy" to most people, especially those who have watched shows like X-Files and Lost. He may not be a recognizable name, and the Emmys might choose someone else. They may not choose anyone at all! It's tough to choose one or two over anyone else for a show like Lost, so the Emmys may just pass on it and give it a main drama nod (like CSI in recent years).

Raffiki, was The Sopranos on last year? I don't think it was. I was confused about that and Six Feet Under. Were both not on last year for the deadline period?

Another wildcard, I suppose. These are the Emmys, don't forget. They have a tough time recognizing new shows, especially shows that only debuted in March. Give it a year or two, and it might (although personally, it's not a favorite, even if it's a favorite for anyone I ask).

The Sopranos was eligible last year (for the 2004 Emmys) and won, but Six Feet Under wasn't.

Grey's Anatomy is more of a Golden Globes type of show. Had it been aired before December, it would be nominated for some.

And I agree with X that it is also too new for the Emmys. Maybe a contender for some technicals, like Nip/Tuck or Carnivale last year.

No, I meant this year. 2004-2005. Was either show on?

Are the Emmy nods being announced on television? Like, on "E!"?

Oh, well, The Sopranos isn't eligible this year, no.

Six Feet Under is, but they'll be voting on the season that aired last summer (the same one we're voting on in our awards), so it's a safe bet that it's out of the running for the major categories.

All I have to say is that Peter Boyle's winning Supporting Actor. On the Goldderby forums, it says he submitted the episode "Boys Therapy," which he was excellent in, not to mention the fact that he's been overlooked for the win 5 times now.

Scratch that...6 times. If nominated, this will be his 7th for ELR. Everyone else on the show has won. Doris Roberts 3 times, Patricia Heaton and Brad Garret twice, and Ray Romano once.

Someone please tell me why Alias is constantly shunned by the Emmys for consideration of Best Drama?

I mean, its won awards for best show elsewhere. So wtf is the deal with the emmys. Is its far fetched elements ruling out its chances of best drama?

And as i watched Alias last week in particular, where Jennifer Garner woke up to find herself trapped in a coffin, i was practically shouting at the screen "Give her a fucking Emmy already"
Seriously. Her performance in that episode in particular [and the episodes leading up to it] was amazing and the sooner the Emmy awards stop rewarding shows that lack entertainment and give their actors prestiege-by-tedium the better.

Im not a super bias fan for no reason. Her wonderful acting is what originally gripped me to an episode of Alias and made me realise her star potential.

Alison Janney was a lock for The West Wing for god knows how long, and shes like won already. Garners had a Globe, a SAG and now its her turn for an Emmy after 4 years.

I also hope to see Garber or Rifkin considered for best supporting actor. And Mia Maestro for best supporting.

As for comedic actress, i too wish they would nominate the Less than Perfect company. Who are by far the funniest bunch on the box right now.

If Alison Janney walks off with her fifth (yes, FIFTH) Emmy for West Wing, I will kill everyone.

Does anyone even care about The West Wing anymore? Only the Emmys do. I swear, I forgot it was still on this year.

So Sopranos is out and Six Feet Under is in.
How about Deadwood?

Then I see the line-up something like this...

CSI
Six Feet Under
Deadwood
Rescue Me
The West Wing/24
