The last two I changed after a few minutes in. I didn't laugh once through the whole thing, I didn't even smile. I just don't understand the hype with it. For one, its the ugliest show in the history of television. I mean I understand they do that on purpose, but its so cheap and annoying. For two, the jokes fall flat. I'm sorry, but the mom saying "Oh thats what they're born for" referring to the foreign maid just doesn't turn my crank. Either does Porti de Rossi spinning around in circles like an idiot. Or the one part where Micheal and his son are driving and they stopped by the cops, and his son sits on his lap when the cop comes. I'm sorry, what? I don't understand.
To each his own I guess. I just can't stand it. Ugly + IMO the jokes try too hard, and all flat on their face = Ugh.
You are not alone in that. I never laughed once at Arrested Development and all the people on the board is trying to find every excuse by saying that its the best show on tv just because it won some Emmy yet when its a show like Monk or West Wing, they say it sucks even though they also won some Emmys. They would use the same excuse to say Emmy's dont tell anything about the quality of the show yet AD is supposed excused from that. Like you said, judging by the really really itchsy low ratings, the public agrees. I dont know why you get attacked for your One Tree Hill taste when others in the forum like crap like Survivor and Big Brother

I don't think anyone here agrees that Arrested Development is funny because it won some Emmys. Maybe because it's actually funny to some people??? Geeesh. And like Shack says, to each his own. All these so-called attacks are done in jest since we ALL are capable of having bad taste in view of others.

Well I believe I remember reading in here people that were defending AD here and replied something like "yeah but crappy shows dont win Emmys" something like that. It still doesnt change the fact that Arrested Development isnt funny and tries too hard to be like Curb Your Enthusiasm . I know the bad taste are done in jest but its done towards some users more strongly especially those that hate Family Guy

Thank you.
The West Wing won 1835546568 Emmys and I think that show blows.
We like Arrested Development because it is funny.
It doesn't get ratings because people don't like quirky humor, which explains why moronic shows such as Yes, Dear and According to Jim have found success over the years.

Yes I do. Yes I do. Its a great Fox show that has never been in danger of being cancelled or have been cancelled at one time and its ending its season this year. Not like some unmentionable shows at Fox

It's partly that but it's also that there are some people like me who hear "Jason Bateman" and lose interest right there, no matter how well written it is. That's pretty much why I've never made a serious effort to watch it and I doubt I'm alone on that.

The War at Home is the only one I truly detest.
There are some though that I think are overrated. Those include; Arrested Development, Lost and Desperate Housewives.

When I hear the name Jason Bateman, I think of 3 things
1. TV curse
2. Teen Wolf 2
3. The annoying kid from "Valerie"

It needs some sort of a laugh track to let us know what's meant to be funny.

As for my pick, I don't know if I could pick the worst. Rodney could very well be the worst, but I've never seen it. Stacked, too.
I've always thought 7th Heaven was the cheesiest thing on the planet, so there's a contender.
And while I've never actually seen a full episode of either, the collective Still Standing/Yes, Dear duo is always a safe bet.

In a world filled with virtually identical police/hospital/lawyer/lady psychic procedurals, comedies that aren't funny, and heartwarming 'dramedies' that have neither heart nor warmth, why must we choose?
But, if we must, I'll try to just pick the biggest painful kick to the crotch on each network:
ABC: My heart says Rodney, but my brain is telling me to pick one of the vile, loathsome, genuinely evil and damaging pair of Wife Swap and Supernanny.
CBS: I feel like a kid in a candy store. Let's go with a tie between Close To Home (now a certifiable hit...thanks, everyone, we couldn't just let one piece of shit slip through the cracks, could we?) and Yes, Dear (the damage CBS caused by letting this thing breathe through a tube for 6 years is permanent...it's on in syndication what seems like all day, every day.
FOX: The War at Home wins. Not that I want to let such crap as That 70s Show, Reunion or Bones (yes, Bones) off the hook. And the rest. I swear, AD was the only good show on that fucking network.
NBC: Tough. I imagine if I ever sat through an episode of E-Ring, that would be my choice. Since I haven't, let's say Las Vegas, a series whose continued existence baffles scientists and creative types alike.
WB: I'll abstain from 7th Heaven. No sense in kicking the dead. I'll go with What I Like About You, a show that has run for four years, despite never having anything that even resembles decent ratings. I don't get it. (Note: I could probably pick one of the other comedies, had I ever seen an episode of any of them. Like Reba). Plus, One Tree Hill. Oh, and Blue Collar TV, probably the worst show on TV. But i think its dead now, thank Xenu.
UPN. Heh. I saw 15 minutes of an episode of One on One once when I couldn't find the remote. So that.

I disagree. It's easily one of the best, yes, but I thought WONDERFALLS was better, though they are really close. Both are f-ing terrific shows that appeal to the same audiences.

I've watched episodes of that show and I don't think it's funny. Though it's easily better than Family Guy. What I've seen of that wasn't funny at all. But I'm not a big fan of TV cartoons. South Park can be pretty enjoyable sometimes though. I also saw a couple earlier episodes of The Simpsons and they were surprisingly good, but then I watched a couple from the more recent seasons and they were stupid and unfunny.

I should have been more specific; AD is the only good show they CURRENTLY have (for a few more weeks, anyway). But they do have a long history of good shows, almost every one of which was killed before its time (Brisco County, Andy Richter, Undeclared, etc.)
I agree with you that Wonderfalls was a good show, although I wouldn't personally place it anywhere near AD's level.

The O.C is a disgustingly poor circus of vanities.
Its poorly written, weakly produced, terribly acted and yet is packaged together as some slick engaging teenage drama. Its the highest order of superficiality in any medium, provides absaloutely zero mental stimulation and I loathe it.

Agree wholeheartedly. The WB as a whole is a loathsome excuse for a network, almost as pathetic as UPN which is saved only by having Veronica Mars.
