But it felt like a two hour fan service, in terms of giving us a lot of "flashbacks" (new flashbacks though), with characters we remember well. The narrative of the story is told in the same vein as Better Call Saul. Much of the scenes we get are the long way around to getting to the point. And I honestly had no issue.

Unnecessary? Of course. So is Better Call Saul. But Saul is an excellent prequel story to Breaking Bad, while El Camino is a terrific epilogue. The fact that Vince Gilligan has carefully crafted stories to fill out this entire universe without it ever seeming like an easy cash grab is genius. We are in the era of cinematic universes, so I have no issues with this expansive television universe.

It's a necessity to be a huge fan of Breaking Bad. I kind of expected some kind of wrap-up, but you have to know the show to enjoy the movie. There's no watching this and only having a vague idea of Breaking Bad. My favorite scene might be Jesse, in probably the only scene in the movie where he's the true Jesse "Yeah bitch!" Pinkman, thinking he's outsmarted Robert Forster's character. And speaking of, given his passing, my favorite expanded side character from Breaking Bad is Forster's Ed Galbraith, vacuum repairman and man of the new identity. Great to see more of him.
