I downloaded the episode last night, I havent gotten a chance to see it. I dont know if its any more disturbing than Visitor Q or Ichi the Killer. Takishi seems to go for shock value more than storyline itself but then again his movies that I noticed seems very misogynist.

I'm in the process of downloading Imprint, and it got me to thinking about the DVDs out right now (Cigarette Burns; Dreams in the Witch House) and I contemplated buying them for Easter. But, the more I think about it, those two episodes are not worth $20. I could buy something else for that price. Heck, I could look for three cheap movies for that price and come away with more than those two episodes.
Right now, I think I would only consider buying "Sick Girl", "Deer Woman" and "Pick Me Up".
Edit: Arghhhh... my "Flip-Flop" flippin' brain is making me think that I should buy the two DVDs. DAMN YOU INDECISIVE BRAIN!

Mmmm... Aborted Fetuses! Buy a box today, and pop 'em in your mouth! Mmm-mmm. Taste that pro-choice just oozing down your throat. And try our new Vanilla-Flavored Fetuses. It's an aborted bundle of delicious!

Okay, I've now seen three eps.
Imprint - B
Sick Girl - C+
Deer Woman - C
What I've noticed so far is that the production values and programme content are no more extreme than your average X-files episode. Not so much a disappointment as a piss-take.

It's kinda good and kinda bad. The show does not disappoint in the cringe-department. Aborted fetuses, torture, blood. The sort of things we need on every TV show. Even that damned "Will and Grace". Would it kill them to show some blood and guts on that show?
I'd give the episode a C+. Not good, not bad. The story suffers the same fate as most Masters episodes. It's just not compelling enough, and not strong enough. But, there's no out-of-place comedy like certain episodes.
And, Billy Drago is pretty horrible in some spots. His outrage acting needs some work.
I can certainly understand why Showtime didn't air it. I'd feel weird if it was a movie. I couldn't imagine any network airing it. I don't care how much profanity, sex and violence they allow on Showtime. This episode pushed right past the limits.

It means they're taking the piss. Getting all these brilliant directors together, saying they've got carte blanche to be as horrifying as they like, and then putting out hour long tripe that wouldn't look out of place as an episode of the X-Files. Deer Woman in particular feels like a bad comedy episode of said TV show.

taking the piss n. This is the most common term we have in British English to describe making fun of someone, e.g. "Andy fell down the stairs on the way into the pub last night, and everyone spent the entire night taking the piss out of him". Contrary to what one might assume, it doesn't involve a complex system of tubes or a bicycle pump.

Incest, misognynistic beating of women, aborted fetuses, syringe wooden sharpees through someone elses gums, those were very disgusting and vile. Yet Im somewhat intrigued by it. Too much LOUD screaming by Billy Drago. LOUD SCREAMS. Bad acting overall but it was one of the most intriguing and taboo episode yet, it made the episode "jennifer" look like disney.

I gotta say, the new director's are a bit disappointing. Brad Anderson is nice, but the others....
Season 2 news:
New directors:
Brad Anderson (Session Nine, The Machinist)
Ernest Dickerson (Bones, Demon Knight)
Tom Holland (Fright Night, Child’s Play)
Returning directors:
Dario Argento
John Carpenter
Joe Dante
Mick Garris
Stuart Gordon
Tobe Hooper
John Landis
Synopsis':
Family, directed by John Landis and written by Brent Hanley, tells the story of a young married couple (Meredith Monroe and Matt Keeslar) that moves into a new home in a new city and finds out that their neighbor (George Wendt) is not what he seems.
Pelts, directed by Dario Argento, written by Matt Venne, adapted from F. Paul Wilson’s short-story, is an erotic tale about stolen raccoon pelts that violently turn against those that covet them in this Giallo-style adaptation of F. Paul Wilson’s short story. Meatloaf and John Saxon star.
The Damned Thing, directed by Tobe Hooper, inspired by Ambrose Bierce’s classic short-story and written by Richard Christian Matheson, is the apocalyptic tale of a monstrous force that devastates Sheriff Kevin Reddle’s family and his small Texas town. Sean Patrick Flanery, Marisa Coughlan and Ted Raimi star.
Pro-Life, directed by John Carpenter, written by Drew McWeeny & Scott Swan, tells the story of a young girl trapped inside a clinic, that discovers the only thing more dangerous than her pursuers is the demonic secret that she carries within her. Ron Perlman, and Caitlin Wachs star.
The V Word, a vampire film directed by Ernest Dickerson and written by Mick Garris, reveals the punishment visited upon two teenage boys who make the very poor decision to break into a mortuary. Michael Ironside stars.
Sounds Like, directed and written by Brad Anderson, adapted from a short-story by Mike O’Driscoll, tells the story of Larry Pearce - an ordinary man blessed with a gift of extraordinary supernatural hearing that drives him to the brink of insanity and forces him to take violent action to silence the horrific cacophony in his head.
The Screwfly Solution, directed by Joe Dante, written by Sam Hamm and adapted from the Raccoona Sheldon short-story, is about a nightmare virus infecting our nation, transforming men into psychotic killers who attack every woman that crosses their paths.
Valerie On The Stairs, directed and written by Mick Garris from a Clive Barker original screen story, tells the tale of a novelist who discovers there are fates worse than literary anonymity in this sexually-charged tale of terror.
We Scream For Ice Cream, directed by Tom Holland from David J. Schow’s adaptation of John Farris’ short-story, depicts a local ice cream man who, in this case, is turning sweet-toothed children against their parents.
The Black Cat, directed by Stuart Gordon and written by Gordon & Dennis Paoli, has the great Poe, out of ideas and short on cash, tormented by a black cat that will either destroy his life or inspire him to write one of his most famous stories

Some of the stories sound like stuff you'd find in "Goosebumps" (except the sexually-charged stories, which would like confuse kids reading Goosebumps books), but they don't sound bad. Stories that sounded like winners last season ended up being the worst ones, so. I'll wait and see.

Well I've been renting them at Blockbuster since I dont have showtime.
I have seen Cigarette Burns, Dreams in a witchhouse, and Homecoming. Pick me up is next.
I think for TV they are all decent, not really scary though. The one that made me jump or feel a little unsettled was Cigarette Burns.
Cigarette Burns- B+ Good episode, it wasnt very typical Carpenter though. Although I can see parallels to the ring, its not so much like it. Its about finding a movie that was shown over 20 years ago because everyone in the theater went mad and killed, mangled each other. It was dark, yet cheesy at the same time, but th ending is quite pointless. Some good gore, like said not really scary, but I jumped like twice which is pretty decent.
Dream in a witch house- C+. Pretty blah, bad acting, kind a rediculous story (If this guy is looking for a quiet place to right his thesis, why not a library, he does live on campus?) Though that girl had such a killer body. The ending was rediculous, and although the story was interesting. Nothing too special. Though not unwatchable.
Homecoming- A. Very good episode. Funny and actually somewhat touching. Rediculous ending (Seems to be a trend) Dante's easily had the best acting, and actually felt like a movie. I actually laughed a lot.
So far, the series is nothing really groundbreaking, but they are fun to watch when your bored.

Thoughts on next season's crop:
Family - Sounds interesting and should be funny to see George Wendt as someone other than Norm on "Cheers."
Pelts - Sounds ridiculously dumb.
The Damned Thing - Very generic but it could be okay.
Pro-Life - Demonic stuff bores me unless it is given a distinctly human element so I'll wait and see. It's all about execution.
The V Word - Sounds like Tobe Hooper's 'Mortuary' as directed by Ernest Dickerson whose Bones and Never Die Alone both left alot to be desired.
Sounds Like - Sounds kind of interesting and I have faith since Brad Anderson is behind it. The Machinist was fantastic.
The Screwfly Solution - Sounds bizzare. It can't be any worse than the polemic that was Homecoming.
Valerie on the Stairs - Sounds weird. Vague synopsis. Hope it's not like Chocolate.
We Scream for Ice Cream - This actually sounds quite interesting. I love the idea of brainwashing.
The Black Cat - Intriguing premise but Gordon is sometimes way too odd for his own good.

well just saw Pick me up. Easily the worst acted of the 4 I saw, but actually had the best ending. It was actually somewhat suspenseful once both of them met at the hotel.
These are for TV episodes
Cigarette Burns- B+
Dreams in a Witchouse- C
Homecoming- A
Pick Me up- B

Season 2 starts this friday although Im probably not looking that much forward to the episode since Tobe Hooper has once again helmed the season premiere episode when last season he gave us the god awful Dance of the Dead. Lets hope he improves and goes back to his Texas Chainsaw Massacre phase

Showtime lately has been beating HBO in quality shows wth Dexter,Sleeper Cell and Masters of Horror. Rome wont be on for awhile and Deadwood is cancelled, theres really not much left on HBO.

HBO has cycles, it's just that the last one ran from 1998-2005.
I expect detailed reviews from my fellow MoH'ers. Hopefully, I'll be able to pick up a season pass on Itunes and chime in.

 That Damned episode
"That Damned Thing"-D
I didnt expect the episode to be as bad as Tobe Hopper's Dance of the Dead but it was close to being as bad. The first 5 minutes were interesting but it got boring from there but whats even worse is they never explained how and why the town was cursed and why it was passed on from generation to generation
Well at least next weeks episode from the preview looks funny with George Wendth

There was only one gore scene which was the intestines being ripped in the beginning and the guy tugging the woman off the roadside except having her ripped in half but thats it.Thats what the confusion is about the monster since at first he posesses someones body but then it has the ability to levitate its host body and then rip it apart in air and then later in the story it takes form in some liquid state

It was okay, but somehow, they continue to create stories that aren't compelling at all. This was nowhere near the atrocity that Tobe Hooper bestowed upon us last season, but it still bored the life out of me. Next season (if there is one), maybe they should start the season with a better and scarier episode for Halloween (it won't air on Halloween, but will be close to it, like the last two seasons).
Next week does, indeed, look far better than the premiere (and anything else the series has done, for that matter). I guess that means it's actually going to suck, and all the good stuff was in the preview. Then again, can they really screw up a guest starring role from George Wendt?
