Re: Saturday Night Live 2008/2009 season
Just watched the HULU clips. Oh man, the Dick in a Box sequel was one of the most awesome things I've seen this year. Patricia Clarkson!!!! and Susan Surrandon!! Most of the other posted sketches were hit and miss. And why in the monologue did he mention like EVERY host this year EXCEPT Paul Rudd???

Re: Saturday Night Live 2008/2009 season
Good show tonight. I'm not going to say it was very good because all of the material outside of the opening monologue relied on material that's been used on the show before, but I laughed quite a bit tonight. The Jeopardy sketch was easily the best part about tonight's show. I wish Tom Hanks would host more often because that sketch shows why Hanks is and is considered to be one of the show's best hosts.
Also, it looks like it's the end (finally) for Darrell Hammond. 14 seasons. He started the year I really began watching the show so seeing him at the end was kind of bittersweet. It's fitting that he was able to do his two best characters tonight (Cheney and Connery). It's also fitting that Ferrell was the host on his final show.
And I think Artie Lange's appearance during the final sketch marks the first time any cast member from MadTV has made an appearance on SNL.
Good season overall from SNL.

Funny thing is that Artie Lange also made an appearance on MADtv's final episode just an hour before...

Can anyone tell me what episode (like, who was hosting/what year) it was where they had the Penelope dinner party sketch? It was like the first Penelope skit I'd seen and I thought it was hilarious. If anyone knows I'd appreciate it.

Jeff Richards was a cast member on MADtv for three episodes before (presumably) being let go, and getting hired by SNL a season or two later. But he was subsequently fired from SNL as well. He played "Party Girl," or something like that.
So yeah... he's barely a MADtv alumnus, just as he's barely an SNL alumnus.

Just looking at his resume it seemed like he had a couple of decent years and then just vanished. I guess that's what you get for starring in comedies like The Hand Job. Also according to the SNL Wiki page, it was also the last night for Don Pardo as announcer. I'm not sure if that's true or not because I went to the link they provided and it said nothing about his leaving, but it wouldn't surprise me. He's 91 after all and he probably just wants to rest in Arizona instead of flying out to New York 20 weeks out of the year just to announce one show.

Re: Saturday Night Live 2008/2009 season
SNL probably makes Pardo feel relevant still. Once he leaves, that's basically it for him. But there's no shame in calling it quits at 91.
I'm kind of glad Darrell Hammond is (supposedly?) leaving. He's had a great run. I think he was great as a creepy villain on Damages. He should be doing that more often.
