Re: Screenshot Challenge - YES! SOMEONE IS WORSE THAN ME!
Yeah, posting on facebook, twitter, etc, is much appreciated. The site faces an uphill battle because the data it requires costs money, I've pre-paid for all of 2014. I'll have to make a decision about 2015 eventually. I don't mind losing money so long as the site is growing.
I have more games planned too, just have to decide what to build next.

Re: Screenshot Challenge - YES! SOMEONE IS WORSE THAN ME!
There are some screenshots marked as guessed wrong by me that I didn't even answer?

Once you see a screenshot, you have a week to answer.

...although I'm not seeing new challenges just created on that page. Only ones that were created before I asked you about this query.

I didn't realize that once you view a screenshot that you had a certain time to predict it.
Boo.

I think the time limit is why this game is great. It maintains regular visits and keeps excitement.

Re: Screenshot Challenge - YES! SOMEONE IS WORSE THAN ME!
Well yeah. It's fine. If I had actually known about it before.
Also, I haven't seen every movie ever. If there is a screenshot that is from the 30's, and I look at it, why do I automatically get it "wrong" if I don't predict it?

Mainly because you either know it or you don't. It's a more accurate representation of your score.

Re: Box Office Seer - Game Announcement (Screenshot Challeng
I've got a problem with one of Algrens screenshots The one with Jet Li from The Warlords. I've got the movie right but typed in the original title "Tau ming chong" which was false. Funnily, the production year is 2007 for Tau ming chong and 2010 for The Warlords.

Re: Box Office Seer - Game Announcement (Screenshot Challeng
The database of films is definitely the most (honestly, for me, only) flawed part of the game. It is often very hard or even impossible to find foreign films or even many classics. And now and then one finds strange glitches. For example, Grindhouse exists as two entries "Grindhouse" and "Grindhouse - Planet Terror," so it would be wrong to post a screenshot from the Rodriguez half of the film because both choices are right. Another example: Sherlock Holmes (2009) is listed twice, though this might be because of an Asylum cash-in release. On a more amusing note, films which do not even exist are included. The Departed 2!

Re: Box Office Seer - Game Announcement (Screenshot Challeng
That part is outside my control.
You can understand, I'm sure, why I can't keep such a database up to date myself. I believe the foreign films aren't included because it's a domestic release list of films. I'm sure with respect to the oddities, they likely were separate releases, but you're right, it wouldn't be fair to use such a film. It does include future releases, movies in development, etc.
Let me know if you can think of anything that may help.

It is a 2010 US-released film, not a 2007 one, and why would you search for the Cantonese title?? 1. It's an English-language box office game. So better keep to using English. 2. You're not Chinese, nor can you speak Cantonese. It's weird that you would search for the foreign title (unless you thought that I was being sneaky and listed it as that). 3. Tau ming chong is not the correct Cantonese title, nor is it the correct Mandarin title. Not your fault, this.

Ha, I was moving through Riggs' many challenges rather rapidly, and I confused Mark Lee in Gallipoli with Hilary Swank as Amelia Earhart. Oops.

Re: Box Office Seer - Game Announcement (Screenshot Challeng
Merry Christmas fucked me up! Riggs is doing good with his screenshots recently. They're not impossibly hard, and not incredibly easy like Eagle's, just inbetween, which is challenging.

Re: Box Office Seer - Game Announcement (Screenshot Challeng
I know, I know I typed Joyeux Noel in first and there were no results so I just took the Merry Christmas movie which is closest to it's release date. Thanks, Algren. The Forever Young screenshot was just for you, so you don't have to guess it a few times more.

Joyeux Noel is there, but it's Joyeux N'@#${el, obviously.

It's a shame that nobody plays this game anymore.
