 Total Madness
HomePredictYour PredictionsHow to PlayTo play, pick a movie and predict how much money it will make during it's domestic run. The closer you are to the right amount, the higher your score will be. Compete against others and see who can predict the best! You'll want to predict early, because to get a perfect score you have to have your prediction in 21 days prior to the films release! You can predict all the way until the day before release, but your score is penalized more as the release draws near.

 Re: Total Madness
What happens if you don't log in for, say, a few weeks, and you fail to log a prediction. Will you get 0 for that? or will you get penalized with a negative score?

 Re: Total Madness
Good question.
No, there won't be any penalties. If you don't play a movie, the only penalty is that you don't get a chance to win that movie, you also don't get a bonus for predicting it (0.01).
Each prediction will be weighted according to the amount of money the movie makes. I would like to also incorporate individual movie results as well, likely as bonuses for finishing first, second, or third when predicting a movie. So predicting gives you a shot at these bonuses.
The idea is that if you predict 8 movies, and your weighted score is 90. You would have a 90.08 after adding your bonus for predicting 8 movies, then you would add a bonus for any movies you finished first, second, or third. The exact formula isn't finalized. I'm hoping to work it out this week, the struggle is in keeping track of who wins what movies and what that process will look like.

 Re: Total Madness
Could someone win the year by predicting for just one movie?

 Re: Total Madness
Considering there are about a hundred wide releases per year, I think a safe number would a third of that, so 30 films.

 Re: Total Madness
There is currently an issue I need to find a way to address. The re-release of Anchorman was allowed to be predicted, and has caused a few minor issues. I'll have to take a look at how to handle this situation, and will do some cleanup accordingly.

Predictions made against the re-release of anchorman have been removed.

 Re: Total Madness
I've updated the player page to correctly show the number of 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishes, and included a breakdown of the players score on the side.

 Re: Total Madness
Hi, Please can you explain this: 1. Why is mine the only one not hidden? 2. Can other players see my prediction? 3. Is mine hidden from others but not from me? 4. Can someone take a screenshot to show me what my prediction looks like to them? Thanks.

 Re: Total Madness
You can always use Incognito mode or sign out to see what it looks like to others, but mat's correct, you can see your prediction, everything else is hidden.

 Re: Total Madness
I realized today score's weren't being calculated in a weighted fashion, so I made some modifications that have altered the current leaderboard standings. The scoring now values your score on movies that made more money moreso than movies which made less.
Because this can make scoring complex, I've added another page showing exactly how you arrive at your score. Click a person's score from the leaderboard to see this page. You can also click a person's score on their profile or from the home page of the game to get to this page.

 Re: Total Madness
What's St. Vincent? I can't find a trailer and can't find it on the schedule. Comingsoon says TBA 2014.

 Re: Total Madness
Quick question... Is there any way to sort our prediction page any other way than alphabetical?
