Good for There Will Be Blood! $40+ million, here we come!

No Country for Old Men is doing expectedly well in rentals and should easily pass $50 million.

Impressive for Reservation Road. I guess the all-star cast did it. I'M still stunned how much this movie BOMBED at the box-office.

For a small movie that Into the Wild is, it's doing pretty well in sales and in rentals, setting its sight at $45 million in rentals or so.

The Kingdom looks to be able to crawl to $80 million eventually.

This week's sales:

http://the-numbers.com/dvd/charts/weekly/thisweek.php

HUGE drop for Alvin, but I think 7+ million copies still looks safe at this point.

Solid start for Water Horse - Legend of the Deep, not so good for There Will Be Blood.

No Country for Old Men is holding well and should eventually pass 3 million sold units. However, for a hyped BP winner that's still pretty bad, I'd say. Well, at least disappointing.

Beowulf is getting closer and closer to 2 million. Pretty good.

300 is back in the charts with 13 million sold copies right on the horizon. It's incredible how huge this has been oin DVD!

Who is buying Reservation Road? Practically no one saw it in theatres.

Totally expected it. All of fox movies are heavily frontloaded boxoffice wise as well as dvd sales wise.

I expected a bit better from JUNO. It is the most insanely popular movie at my store in some time. It still did really good though, and I'm sure it did fantastic in sales.

Really good for everything else.

DVD Rentals for April 14–20

Decent for Juno; good for Before the Devil Knows You're Dead and In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale.

Nice hold for P2.

It's good to see that more people are discovering Before the Devil Knows You're Dead. But then again, topping $7 million in rentals (which it obviously will do) isn't a tall order.

Rush Hour 3 is off the charts at last...

Beowulf will easily cruise past $50 million. I must say I'm very impressed by this film's DVD sales and rentals. I thought it wouldn't do as well with the lacking 3D aspect.

Great for Before the Devil Knows You're Dead

Okay for Juno. Frankly I expected more considering how big of a WoM hit this became. We're looking at 4-5 million sold units here which is worse than Superbad or Knocked Up...

Enchanted is holding well. I think it will top 6 million units eventually.

Pretty good for Hitman.

Rather weak starts for both Cloverfield and Charlie Wilson's War.

Before the Devil Knows You're Dead is still delivering a strong showing, should pass $25 million eventually, maybe even $30 million.

Into the Wild looks to make $45 million in rentals which is good for a sub-$20 million grosser.

Also good for The Orphanage. Looking at $10+ million in rentals. You, guys, should all rent it ;)

REALLY poor for The Golden Compass.

Great DTV start for Hero Wanted.

Beowulf will cross $50 million within the next two weeks which is pretty great for it.

Well..I thought that Cloverfield would do rather well on the home market since the people who were cautious in watching Cloverfield in theaters and avoided it would be interested in watching it on DVD. I guess the movie really didn't have good WOM after all :|

Cloverfield actually didn't do half as bad as some expected in sales. Looks like it will cruise past 2 million sold units eventually.

A pretty embarassing start for The Golden Compass, considering it's family-oriented and all...

Good for 27 Dresses, I could see it selling over 2.5 million DVDs.

Enchanted is doing very well and with a certain increase around the holiday time, it will eventually pass 6 million sold units.

Great for Bee Movie too!

Not so good for Charlie Wilson's War, though. It'll struggle to 1 million.

Solid running total for American Gangster, aiming at a 5+ million total as well.

Hero Wanted has done well for a direct-to-DVD release (the only one in the top 50).

The Mist has done very well for being a Weinstein title.

P2 is hanging in there as well.

Also worth noting is that no one likes Paris Hilton because The Hottie and the Nottie rented terribly, apparently. Shocking, I know. Everytime I go to Movie Gallery a whole bunch of copies are available. :funny: :hahaha:

Top Rentals for May 12–18

Nice for Mad Money, decent for Untraceable and The Great Debaters. Even Numb did pretty well for a direct-to-DVD title. Hero Wanted continues its stellar run for a DTV title.

Awesome for MAD MONEY. It was renting better than UNTRACEABLE at my store, yet I was still thinking UNTRACEABLE would beat it out on the charts. I'm happy for it though. I liked it better than UNTRACEABLE, which was good too.

Good start for Mad Money. Will ourdo its theatrical gross fast.

Quite awesome for There Will Be Blood so far!

No Country for Old Men is about to cross $50 million and should eventually pass $60 million. Its sales are a tad disappointing, but the rentals are stellar.
