That means that either I Am Legend disappointed or Enchanted is really huge. Could it have sold 4+ million copies in its first week?

HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! I am Legend is a massive dissapointment 1st week dvd sales wise. Sorry but it is true. The alternate ending leaked out way early and so no one was interested in buying the dvd just to see the ending.

WOW

A&C comes out next week!! So will it be #1 or #2??

I think #2.

Not too good for Atonement...

Great hold for No Country for Old Men. Should get over $55 million eventually...

Very good for Gone Baby Gone. Wish it did better in sales, though.

Rush Hour 3 just baffles me. I don't recall a rentals performance as good as this one in ages. Will pass $80 million next week and could eventually go beyond $90 million...

RH3 dvd rentals are indeed mindblowing. RH4 anyone a much lower budget??

The movie still was horrible. DVD sales were extremely poor.

This week's sales:

http://www.the-numbers.com/dvd/charts/w ... isweek.php

Comingsoon screwed on the news, eh? I Am Legend certainly outsold Enchanted. Both did very well, though. I can't say I'm not slighlty disappointed with IAL's sales number, but let's wairt and see how it holds up. I think it should finish with around 7.5-8 million copies or so.

Enchanted should hold great, though. I see it getting up to 7 million sold units as well, maybe more.

Nice start for Atonement. Will sell around 1.2-1.3 million.

Awesome hold for Bee Movie! We're looking at 5.5+ million sold DVDs here when all is said and done.

Battlestar Galactica - Season Three...not bad, not bad.

No Country for Old Men isn't doing too well for a BP winner. Should finish with something like 3 million or so.

American Gangster passes 4 million units.

3:10 to Yuma is unstoppable. #5-DVD of 2008 so far, above The Game Plan, Resident Evil - Extinction and all Oscar flicks. Had it been nominated for major Oscars, I think this would have been HUGE. It's a matter of time till it crosses 3 million copies.

Saw IV has made over $25M in sales, 30 Days of Night over 21M. Hitman has done well enough that I think we'll see a sequel somewhere down the line.

The latest numbers for Transformers can't be right, can they? $309 million in DVD sales?!!

umm I think comingsoon.net is much more reliable. Also they probably only reported dvd sale numbers not blu-ray sales. Maybe total sales IAL was #1.

The sequel will destroy all boxoffice records and do 1+ billion worldwide.

Wow. The Mist did very well considering it's "Blockbuster exclusive." It probably could have topped the chart if it had been available in large enough numbers at the other outlets.

Pretty good for The Mist. Should easily pass its theatrical gross and maybe end up with around $40 million.

I must say that Beowulf is really surprisingly potent in sales (heading towards 2 million units) and in rentals where it should pass $50 million pretty soon.

American Gangster seems to be the next big rentals flick with a solid chance to pass $60 million along the way.

I'm glad Gone Baby Gone is doing well. It really deserved much more at the box-office than it actually got.

Rush Hour 3 is still mind-boggling and should at some point crawl to $90 million. The Kingdom will pass $80 million pretty soon too.

The Heartbreak Kid was pretty huge in rentals too...

wow A&C continues to kick ass.

A sequel is 100% guaranteed to hit theatres by 2010.

Horrible drop for Enchanted, but I'm sure it'll always keep re-appearing around Christmas time, so a 6+ million total seems safe anyway.

I Am Legend is doing alright, could've been better, though. Definitely on track to pass 7 million, not sure by how much yet.

Disappointing running total for No Country for Old Men.

The Game Plan passes 2.5 million sold units...

Across the Universe
keeps chugging on and on, returning back to the Top 30.

I am sure A&C sold like 3-3.5 million units in 1 week. Well I don't know studios usually lie a lot so the 2.6 million in 1 day sale figure might be a lie.

He's right, though. I don't know about lying, but those humongous 1st day figures that are thrown around from time to time are always getting revised with final numbers out.

Top 50 rentals

Pretty awesome for Into the Wild. This is going to cross $50 million eventually which is quite huge for a film like this, especially considering it wasn't nominated for many Oscars...

Michael Clayton, on the other hand, didn't find as much success on DVD as it looks to end up with no more than $33-35 million.

Rush Hour 3 is standing at $82 million now. It is its 16th week in the Top 50 and it doesn't look to drop out of it anytime soon. It's definitely passing $90 million at this point, making it probably the biggest rental in years!

Yeah, very good for Chipmunks (though I honestly expected even more, something around 4 million). I wonder how close it'll get to Happy Feet in DVD sales.

Solid for Sweeney Todd considering the theatrical disappointment, might sell 1.6-1.7 million copies.

3.10 to Yuma still rocks the house. It'll pass 3 million copies this year, mark my words.

American Gangster will end up selling 5 million copies...quite awesome.

Across the Universe is still holding well. It'll soon pass 30 Days of Night and War in DVD sales.

I expect around 6-8 million copies for A&C by end of year. A lot of Fox family movies are frontloaded on dvd.

NATM sold like 4 million copies in first week but total were only 8 million.

Excellent start for TWBB. It's rental gross should at least match or exceed its $40.2m theaterical domestic gross.

Good for LFL, I expect it's rental gross to double it's $15m domestic gross.

Waterhorse did what I expected. It probably wont be able to match it's $40.4m gross unless there's more interest in Waterhorse.

Disappointing for Walk Hard, considering I saw many advertisements for the DVD. It can still get $25m in rentals but nothing exciting.

Considering P2 flopped in theaters, it didn't do that bad. By next week, its rental gross will pass its $4m domestic total and earn about $10m in rentals.

RR did decently. It's course on to get $20m in rentals. It's $122,000 gross proved that RR was the type of movie that would do better on video than in theaters.

The real winner has to be Resurrecting the Champ. It's rental opening beat it's $3.1m domestic total alone. I didn't expect that from RTC because I didn't know it was coming out on DVD last Tuesday (lack of advertisements).

A lot of really good debuts. Very nice for THE WATER HORSE (movies like this usually don't do this well in rentals) and RESERVATION ROAD, and a solid debut for P2.
