Very impressive for RIGHTEOUS KILL, BABYLON, and especially BANGKOK DANGEROUS, especially since it was a Box Office flop.

Poor GHOST TOWN. It deserved better. It's such a wonderful movie.

Does the sales chart include Blu-ray sales? If not, is there a website that does?

BRIDESHEAD REVISITED did really terrible if it didn't even make the top 50 rentals. I know at my store as of yesterday it had only been rented 7 times, and one of those times was from me. Considering we have 10 copies that's not good at all.

Also doing terrible at my store is THE FAMILY THAT PREYS. We have 40 copies or so and as of yesterday it had been rented 16 times, at least two of those were from co-workers. I really expected it to rent better than most of Perry's movies because of the presence of Kathy Bates, but that didn't make a difference here. It seems to have made one on the rental chart though because it performed better than most of his movies there.

This week's sales:

http://www.the-numbers.com/dvd/charts/w ... isweek.php

Everything sucks, eh?

WALL-E's holding very well and should soon pass 10 million units in sales. It could do around 12 million before Up is released.

LOL, Disaster Movie actually held well! What idiots are buying this film?

Step Brothers
is close to passing 4 million in sales.

Also...what the hell happened? The sales numbers have been revised, mostöy downwards. I remember Indy passed 6 million units in sales a few weeks ago and now it's back at 5.5 million!

Top 100 sales 2008:

http://www.the-numbers.com/dvd/charts/annual/2008.php

In comparison

Top 100 sales in 2007:

http://www.the-numbers.com/dvd/charts/annual/2007.php

Makes me think that they don't include BluRay. Because otherwise 2008 paled BIG TIME compared to 2007. 2007 had six 10+ million sellers and one that almost made it. 2008 had only ONE 10+ million seller.

Of course Kung-Fu Panda, iron Man and WALL-E will also make it there, but it is still disappointing.

An interesting note:

The Notebook sold 1+ million DVDs last year once again. It sold 2.1 million in 2007, meaning that over the last two years that film sold over 3 million units. Considering before that it had 2005 and 2006, with the gven numbers, I'd estimate its total sales number to date at around 15-17 million.

I'd love to know the actual numbers.

REPO didn't make it :(. Nor did VACANCY 2, BOOGEYMAN 3, POISON IVY 4, or AMUSEMENT.

I've always wondered how reliable their numbers really are. This makes me wonder even more.

Huh? What happened? Wanted, Iron Man and especially Wall-E are significantly lower than last week.

The new chart is up. The sales are really depressing now.

What? They were revised downward again? Blah. I think this chart just lost all credibility.

TDK, Wall-E, Iron Man were all revised down this week pretty big, same thing happened to Indy last week, why has this happened?

This is ridiculous. I don't have any interest in these charts anymore...

No because the relations still stand between it and other films, no matter the actual number of sold films, heh.

By the way, if you look at this:

http://www.the-numbers.com/dvd/charts/annual/2008.php

you'll see that some sales were actually revised UPWARDS not downwards. I Am Legend and Alvin and the Chipmunks in particular, received quite a bump now.

How in the fuck did FROZEN RIVER not make the top 50? It's nominated for two Academy Awards! What a shame! :disgust:

HOW TO LOSE FRIENDS & ALIENATE can't catch a break. It's doing horrible on DVD too. I checked on Monday and it had only rented 7 times total, and that was after the weekend. Yikes!

Twilight" is off to a bright start on shiny disc.

Summit Entertainment said more than 3 million DVDs of its vampire-romance title jumped off store shelves over its first day. The first-day haul for "Twlight" came via an unusual Saturday launch as discs generally debut on Tuesdays.

Nice debuts for MILK, THE BOY IN THE STRIPED PAJAMAS, RACHEL GETTING MARRIED, and LET THE RIGHT ONE IN.

Great second week for TWILIGHT, even if it had come out on a Saturday so it had extra days. Nothing else noteable.

I was hoping for better for TELL NO ONE (and was expecting it), but it's still decent I suppose.
