Post Is Blu-Ray the best damn thing ever?
I say yes. I've started collecting them (76 by now) since January 08 and finally got my Full-HD TV in April.

Watching movies on DVD which are already released on Blu-Ray too, is not imaginable anymore.

Who's with me?

I just spoke to a person who was shovelling her VHS movie collection into a dumpster, since she couldn't find anyone to donate or give them away to. She had 400+ movies @ an estimated cost of $25 each for a total investment of $10,000.

This is the future story of the Blu-Ray collector, circa 2020...

:(

Heh. Didn't mean it as "times 264", but as another thing that rocks, x264, encoder that helps me back up blu-rays. ;)

Oooh, hehe. When your not a really really good earner, I think it's pretty hard to have 264 BR by now, so I was a little bit shocked.

yeah the picture quality is great....

Planet Earth has nearly a quality you think you can grip into the landscape.

The name is cool, but like anything else, it too will die 1 day very soon, much like Betamax did back in the day..

I was especially surprised by the quality of The Road Warrior, made it look like a movie from the early 00's. Just amazing.

I really have to get Planet Earth.

I agree with you 100%: It's a fad right now and in 10 years, Blu-Ray DVD might end up by way of VHS in favor of something better coming along and trumping it.. I can't tell the difference between the 2 quality wise, I honestly can't and why shell out the extra $$$$ that Blu-Ray commands when your standard DVD is just as good???

Yes.

I've been selling all my DVDs. I only own five movies, but Netflix keeps em coming in.

I still don't own one. I hate what blue ray players do to my old DVDs, makes everything look like a soap opera.

This is not your Blu-ray player, it's the judder-reducing function of your TV. Fact.
