Post The Game Awards 2018
Not sure why they expanded to 6 nominees just to give Ass Creed a nom when it is far inferior to Orgins, and the awards take place before a pontential winner (Smash Bros) is even released, but as usual the nominations are solid. The top 3 are instant classics, Monster Hunter was all the rage back in Q1 and Celeste is the right call for darling indie underdog. The game industry is one of the few, perhaps only, ones where the critical and consumer consensus usually lines up, making for the best possible awards line up.

Red Dead 2 will surely win at the awards ceremony, but for me, this is the first time I cannot pick a winner. It and Spider-Man are both perfect 10/10s for me. Rockstar somehow managed to create a grounded sorrowful simulation of the old west and a bombastic action movie full of their trademark gallows humor simultaneously. It is one of the most impressive achievements in history, yet so is that swinging mechanic from Spider-Man. It makes every second of that game a blast, but there is also a spectacular story to dive into if you can stop swinging for a second or two.

1. Red Dead Spider-Men
2. God Of War
3. Celeste
4. Hollow Knight
5. Dead Cells
6. WWE 2K19
7. Guacamelee 2
8. Mario Tennis Aces
9. Monster Hunter World
10. Bloons Tower Defense 6

God Of War with the upset. :noway:

It’s still a fine choice. And I suppose a Playstation exclusive winning is appropriate considering how they dominated the year.
