The Witcher 2 footage!
For all Witcher fans, here's a treat:
Voices seem placeholders but the looks are great.

Re: The Witcher 2 footage!
Yeah new engine, better graphics, Havok added, new dialog system, darker climate and a little bit different combat. And that's still alpha version of the game. Can't wait!

Quote:
There’s been a huge interest over our promotional Witcher 2 video that leaked last week. I think it’s best if we straighten few things out.
1. Does the leaked video show final or close to final product quality? As Adam (CD Projekt RED CEO) noted in our response to the leak, the video was created using a very early alpha version of The Witcher 2 and therefore does not represent the final quality of the game in any way. Basically, the video was created six months ago to show the game to the potential publishers, and a lot has changed since that time. Moreover, the movie does not even touch the main aspect of the game, which is it’s story. We put all our efforts into making the story even more exciting and captivating, giving our fans exactly what they expect.
2. I don’t like Geralt’s voice. Are those final voiceovers for the game? After seeing the video many of you worried about the quality of voiceovers and the different voices used by lead characters. We’re proud that our team members can imitate native English actors so well that some people would even consider these VOs being part of the final product . However, we are not planning to change RED into the world’s first non-native recording studio for English movies and games by using non-native non-actors. Don’t worry, we’ll stay in our day jobs. The voices in the video are not in any way final, and were only created for the purposes of the video. By the way - personally, I don’t like Geralt’s voice in this movie either .
3. Will the developers of The Witcher be involved in The Witcher 2? The Witcher 2 is being developed by the same team which was responsible for the first one with some minor changes (50+ people remain from The Witcher’s development). It is true that there were some cuts in the development department at CD Projekt, but those were mostly connected with freezing development of The Witcher: Rise of The White Wolf.
4. What is the release date? We haven’t established a release date yet. It will be announced together with our future publisher. However, please do not expect the game too soon. The Witcher 2 is still deeply in the development stage and as it is huge and complex, there is still many, many hours of work in front of us.
5. When we will see more materials from the game? Except for this FAQ we do not plan any materials to be released soon. An official trailer and other stuff will be done with our publisher, and it won’t be very soon. Sorry.
6. What engine will be used in The Witcher 2? The game does not use the Aurora Engine anymore. We developed a brand new engine dedicated to creating games with the design and features we love (basically the same concept as in the first Witcher but everything done much better, smoother and with some significant improvements). The new engine is fully scalable and, well… kicks ass;). We believe it will let us avoid all bottlenecks we came across during development of the first Witcher. Exact engine specifications, features and name will be revealed after the official announcement.
7. What platform will the game be released on? Although PC is certain choice we made regarding platforms for The Witcher 2, we also want to release the console version. More information will come after official announcement of the game.
Final Word. Despite the fact that we did not want to publish this video, we’re happy with the huge interest it gained. As always, please let us do everything we can not to disappoint you. Thanks a lot.
Stay tuned! Tom Gop Senior Producer CD Projekt RED

Nice. I'm wondering, though, why the hell did they change Geralt's face? It's bothering me...

Re: The Witcher 2 footage!
I never really got involved with the first game (only finished the first level I think), perhaps because I was already occupied with Dragon Age when I received it. I am looking forward to this.

Re: The Witcher 2 footage!
Just read that release for the PC is first half of 2011 with the console versions coming sometime later, maybe (they are not even confirmed yet). Sucks. I thought i'd be playing it this year, on my 360.

Re: The Witcher 2 footage!
Q1 2011 is their plan.
As for PS 3 and 360 versions, they are not confirmed yet but they are still hiring people with PS3 and 360 programming skills. The biggest problem is that most people that have ever worked on PS 3 or 360 in Poland are already hired by other developers. Lack of experienced team might be the reason why the console version will be release later than the PC version.

Re: The Witcher 2 footage!
I saw a presentation of the game today. They run the game and I must say that the game looks stunning. I It's still alpha version of the game with around 60% of the game finished. But it already looks stunning. This time it's CDPR is using their own engine for the game and it works nicely from what I have seen. Fighting is different ( way better than in the first game if you ask me but still in early stages of development ) and dialog system is different too. I like that people that walk by could join the conversation or they could simply walk by and not bother. There is also less time to choice your option because you have only few seconds to decide what to say. The actions around you will depend on what you say. So far they have 5 or more endings for the game.
As for Geralts face it's still work in progress since they just started making animations and it will improve closer to the release date.

Re: The Witcher 2 footage!
The time responses are suppose to make the game more special for the player, because we will rather choose an answer that we really feel is the good at the moment instead of reading 5 choices and getting the best answer. This is suppose to make the game less predictable and give us many more ways to replay the game later on.

Re: The Witcher 2 footage!
Removing the timer would not have changed anything except for making life easier for people that are really anal about their answers and like to think it through. But like i said, it's not that big of a deal, can still reload if the outcome is not to my liking.

Re: The Witcher 2 footage!
Info & screenshots from GamesCon 2010
- there will be 3 different starts based on the ending you choosed in first game - there will be 16 (!!!) different endings in the game. - About loadings in the game - Witcher had 700 loadings in the whole game, Witcher 2 has only 4 - there will be 256 interactive cutscenes ( over 2,5h ), over 2,5 times more then in game one. - over 30 different things that you will be able to change in your armor - different choices give different outcome later in the game. - different ways of killing enemies and finishing quests. You can go stealth and kill quietly, or you can go frontal attack. It's your choice. - New fist fight system.
