7/10 -> B-

This is where Britney's album started to become interesting as a whole.

I never understood the hate for Me Against the Music, as even today I find it's a great dance track. Then came Toxic. No need to waste words on how awesome that one is. I even loved Everytime.

And the rest of the album was more in line with previous songs that were more listenable rather than pure filler to meet the quota.

But the singles remained the strongest part of the album. Something that's about to change with Blackout...

I don't know what the fuck happened but she came back from the incredible blandness of "Britney" and pulled out this belter.

Back then i was hoping Britney would go and make a follow-up that was more Ray of Light than anything else, because she hinted at that branching on this album which remains her most daring to date.

Instead things changed bigstyle from the release of In the Zone and she went for rebellious bad-girl for her following CDs, which worked too.

Still, this was the branching that could have seen Britney become more than just a product. She could have really went off and tried to develop music as an artform after the seeds she planted on this CD. She evidently chose not to.

Well, from what I've heard of Original Doll, it was basically In the Zone 2. She helped write a lot of the songs, more than any of her other albums. It's kind of too bad she became pregnant, twice, and eventually just dropped Original Doll.

Tis is now my favorite cd from her, there's only one meh-ish song and that's Brave New Girl, it also has Shadow, one of brit's best ballads.
