That will never happen.

Yeah exactly...theoretically we could have silent bidding for top picks but it gets really complicated.

Think the easiest and most fun is just a straight up draft.

Do a google document, grant everyone access, put a line for each movie, have a 1 week span where everyone can go in an 'bid'. If you want to bid higher, enter the new bid and update your total remaining accordingly (with the understanding that you can never REMOVE a bid or bid yourself below 0). Horray auction!

I like Eagle's idea.

Doesn't sound very fun though.

Drafts aren't fun unless they're in person.

And even then, they can get annoying quickly.

First time played this in Magnus' game last summer.

It was a bit confusing, still is now, but why not, sign me up too.

Maybe we could set up a chat room somewhere/somehow that we could all get in just like the fantasy football draft and do it that way. This 6 hours thing is gonna take forever and unless someone is notifying folks I might miss it (probably not) but ya never know. Or maybe if we REally trust eachother we could be text drafting using or phones and group messaging?

It's the 21st century we can figure this out.

Final set of rules:

1. Two drafts of 8 players each; the two draft pools will be randomized, and the draft order will be randomized.
2. The 8 players will take turns drafting movies for 10 rounds. A total of 80 2015 films will be drafted. Whoever has the highest gross for their films wins!
3. You have 6 hours to make your pick, or you will be skipped. This will not apply to the 1st round to make sure that everyone gets to make their first pick. Hours between 11pm and 8am EST do not count towards the 6 hour time limit. As long as you check the thread once a day, you'll be fine.
4. After you make your pick, please PM the next person who drafts after you to let them know that it is their turn. If zwackerman drafts after me, I would send him a PM that says "hey you're up." Alternatively, if you're not going to be around for a while, you can let the person who picks after you what movie you want picked and they can draft for you to keep the thread moving.
5. If a film gets moved to 2016 or does not have a theatrical release, you may switch it out for a film that wasn't drafted, for a $10m penalty.

This will be a snake draft, with the order being as follows:

So player 8 will submit two picks (last pick of the first round, and 1st pick of the 2nd roundd)

Finally, there will be a penalty on two films: $300m will be subtracted from Avengers II's total gross, and $175m will be subtracted from Star Wars VII's total gross.

I'll set up a Google spreadsheet for each draft so that it can be easily followed. Will make the threads and set the draft order in a little bit.

So it's not necessary that the same 80 films are picked by the two groups right.

I would guess not.
