Can we appeal his suspension? He was about to start his much hyped top 100 list that was going to blow all of our minds. If he's banned than I vote that Dr. Lecter take his place and list his favorites. I also vote that light racism, homophobia and general bigotry should be allowed to maintain diversity. You're really just punishing David for being American. |

I don't think bans automatically expire. So he will have to contact Eagle to life the ban. I hope he doesn't forget to do this. Seven days is acceptable, but I couldn't cope with an 8-day loss from the Yankee genius.

My personal take on this: David might annoy a lot of folks, but he isnt a bad guy and I don't believe that his remarks to Mau or me, when he makes a Nazi remark, are meant to be mean-spirited and offensive. I have been to WOKJ (and before that BOM) long enough. I know the folks who post here well enough and I can tell difference whether a certain remark is meant to attack or it isn't. Mau's "Jew" comments to torrino did come from a meaner place. There is history there with Mau/Korrgan/torri, history that could not be ignored. Dont even try to tell me that those were not mean-spirited and designed to rile up. David's remarks, while annoying, don't have the vibe of being direct attacks. I just think he actually sometimes fails to see what he is actually saying there and how it could be perceived. Still, the situations to me, at their core, are different. THAT BEING SAID - David has been warned before and I believe more than once, if I can recall correctly. A further warning would have accomplished nothing. So it's either letting it slide and do nothing or implement a short ban. Doing nothing, however, opens up a can of worms as Mau would see his earlier behavior justified and the reprecussions against him as unjust. Therefore, superficially their behavior is the same. Since David knew that he has been warned in the past and knew about the way his remarks are being perceived and still carried on, he has been pretty much banned for being stupid.  There is still enough light and not so light racism, homophobia and whatnot here. I mean Algren is still arouind, so he'll take care of our quota on that. And as long as those comments and that behavior are deemed harmless enough, no action is taken, unless direct and well-founded complaints are brought up here. Luckily, our posters are getting less touchy with time. These are my 2 cents. |

Though as I explained in my post above, I support Eagle's decision, though just like him, I don't like taking that action. |
