I got sick of the endless amount of users who register and make 0 posts (seriously, why?), so from now on only registered users over 100 posts can see the Water Cooler - everyone who was under 100 before the change can still read it.

Doing a great job, but that's needier than blocking someone on facebook because they didn't post on your wall. Did you consider that it might frustrate old users who don't want to be logged in 24/7?

Are the new owners discussing this stuff as a team, btw?

Or can any of you change major things whenever minor things annoy you?

Why would anyone need to write out 100 posts (it's not a small number unless you're completely thoughtless) just to become eligible for off-topic discussion? No offence man, but it's really fucking stupid.

Setting it at 5 posts would serve the exact same function and wouldn't piss people off. (A spammer/non-contributor can be determined in less than 5 posts).

Also, my Gamaur account is still having some issues affecting log-in, and it's literally impossible for anyone in my position to access the forums you do this too.

I mentioned it to the other owners but didn't get much feedback on it so I went ahead and did it to see if it makes a difference. If it doesn't improve any change in posts in a month I'll probably drop it. I'm just looking for ways to improve registration to posting ratio, we've had success leading horses to water but getting them to drink has been impossible. I agree that needing people to log in to access the Water Cooler is the biggest downside.

I don't get it. Is the Water Cooler such a hip hub of activity that new users will make 100 posts just to be able to read it? I think nobody will give a shit, and it looks like a pointless action to take. Isn't the point to encourage activity, not to curb it?

Well they can't read it until they get 100 posts so they don't know that its activity is mediocre
