Alice Through The Looking Glass must have enchanted me. At least, that's the only way I can explain enjoying it so much when it got such terrible reviews. Or perhaps our culture still just has difficulty accepting a strong and smart female lead character in a Hollywood fantasy. Personally I loved the psychedelic steampunk design and I found the time travel story very engaging and dream logical. Unboundedly better than Alice In Wonderland. An ethereal *A*.

With a movie like Independence Day: Resurgence, ie: one that is merely good, there is a predictable pattern of response.

Those who see it in preview or opening day, before the groupthink** trend to love or hate it has been established, either write their honest opinion or hedge their bets by writing a review that can be later interpreted as positive or negative.

However by Sunday of opening weekend, after most of the professional reviews are in and the box office trajectory is confirmed, the trend-riders come out and the piling-on begins.

After you recognize this phenomena, it becomes easy to spot. Combat groupthink. Watch for it. Point it out.
