Okay - - which one of you cowards started a second account to anonymously criticize KJ on it's most obvious weakness?
Coward = fair cop, I'm not a current poster but it's true that I haven't always been a lurker. I started a new account rather than using the old one 'cos not only have I forgotten the password, I've also forgotten the e-mail account. The anonymous new account/ pointless post was a combination of 1) bad day 2) too much to drink + 3) one too many encounters with Heath Ledger's face on the front page, and for what it's worth I do feel like a d*ck about it today. Apologies all.
The frustrating thing is not the age of the articles because it must be really difficult keeping on top of that... it's the fact that it draws attention to it by being the kind of front page that *needs* to be updated. How about replacing it with some kind of "sticky content" that is useful without requiring updates? I see there's already a feed of movie news so I'm not sure what I was talking about there (see point two above). How about maybe a panel of useful search engines that would be good for movie fans to have in the same place? You could type stuff in to search Rotten Tomatoes, Metacritic, Google News, Google Blogs, Boardreader and the site forum all from the World of KJ front page. That would be a handy resource for just generally keeping abreast of the latest movie news and opinion. Maybe also a panel of amusing or interesting (or just informative) stuff that people have recently said on the forum? Just ideas, but I basically mean swapping the articles-led front page with combination of self-updating content like the existing feeds, useful tools like search engines, and low-maintenance stuff like extracts from the forum with links to the relevant threads.
EDIT: I've just seen that there's already a thread about this with some comments from the owners. Think I'm just going to slope back into lurkdom with my tail between my legs...
