Is it time to revisit Nic Cage?
I say yes, for years it just seemed like there was maybe 1 decent/great film out of like every 6 films for the last 20 years but longlegs had me looking back a little it, his last 10 films on Rotten Tomatoes are average 71%. Only 3 are rotten at 58%, 58%, and 32%. Now that he has had 3 semi wide films on peoples radar and his first 20 million opener in 10 years! Are we looking at a true comeback, or is he just finally picking much better films and will continue to stay where he is at?
At the very least I'm going to try and catch up on 10 films and then the fresh ones after that. I know there were a couple of solid ones I've missed in the last 10 years.

Dam in the last 20 years he has had 43 rotten movies and 21 fresh for a total 64 movies. The mere fact that a third of his fresh films are from 7 of his last 10 is pretty impressive. (Though to be fair, that list also includes some of his well liked films like both national treasure films, etc.

Some of us stayed with Cage through thick and thin. Some of us don't let Rotten Tomatoes dictate our viewings.

He's kept doing good stuff, but there's more weak stuff for the large part in the last 20 years. I seems since COVID, he's been better at picking projects in some way. Anyway, of the last 10 years my favorite of his is The Trust.

Nic Cage was baseball pitcher who's still starting and putting up bad numbers instead of being turned into a reliever, he needed to stop require being the face on the poster and be a supporting guy like in Kick Ass, it looks like he's starting to do that more.

Well there was more to it than that, after the sorcerer’s apprentice bombed, he was in so much debt and couldn’t afford to be locked into major pictures, so he grabbed a bunch of 3 million paychecks for 15 days of work, it seems he is more financially stable and can be more choosy, and for the record I’m don’t care about RT, I’ve seen probably about half of those 63 film and 4 of his last 10. My point was my surprise how the quality has gone up considerably that a lot of his smaller ones have been overlooked. There is definitely a major shit period in there as well with a few good ones I caught. I really enjoyed a lot of travolta’s DTV recents as well because cage and travolta will never phone it in

Looking at his filmography, the obvious turnaround point is Mandy. It was the first time in forever that he was praised for his performance in a movie that was very well received (though I thought it sucked :-p.) Must have sparked something in him. "I can take all these random no-risk roles and still be a beloved actor? Yes. Give me that please."
